‘The Voice’: Why Blake Shelton Plans to Bully Nick Jonas in Season 18

Season 18 of The Voice will have some new competition with Nick Jonas replacing Gwen Stefani. Blake Shelton is known for being very competitive and he’s already giving Jonas a hard time.

Find out how he made fun of the younger singer in a video welcoming him on the show, and read the reason why he plans to bully Jonas next season.

Nick Jonas is replacing Gwen Stefani for season 18 of ‘The Voice’

Stefani made her big return to The Voice by replacing Adam Levine. However, it only lasted one season because now Jonas is replacing her. He made the announcement on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The remaining coaches made videos welcoming him.

“Nick Jonas! How you doin’, buddy? I heard that you’re going to be a new coach on The Voice and I wanted to say congratulations I guess,” said Shelton. “I’m going to have to look through the rules because this is my TV show,” he said. “I’m not even sure if you’re old enough to be a coach on The Voice, but I’m certain that you’re going to get your butt kicked, buddy.”

Kelly Clarkson was much kinder by pointing out in her video that they’re both from Texas so they should form an alliance. John Legend was also talking about teaming up against Shelton. “Our mission is to destroy Blake Shelton. We have to form an alliance. Me, you, Kelly,” said the EGOT winner.

Shelton said Stefani could return in the future

Some fans are hoping that the couple will be reunited again in the future. Shelton gave them some hope at an event that Stefani will come back.

“I get what has to happen,” he said according to Entertainment Tonight. “We’re not seeing the last of Gwen on that show by any means. I wouldn’t say we’ve seen the last of anybody who’s ever been on that show. They’ve said from the beginning that once somebody’s a coach on The Voice, they’re always a part of the family.”

Shelton is the last original judge to stay on the show. He revealed whether he had any power in the decision to bring her back.

“I don’t know that I have any power with that, but I definitely have a loud voice when it comes to [bringing her back],” he said. “I make it known that I don’t ever want her to leave.”

The country singer is already looking forward to next season. He talked about the new competition that will be coming in to replace Stefani.

“I’m gonna take [Gwen leaving] out on Nick Jonas,” Shelton told Extra. “I mean, it’s not his fault. But I’m not happy about it and he’s gonna be sitting there, the new guy. So I’m gonna bully him a little bit, to be honest with you.”

Fans can look forward to more of that kind of dynamic next season. It’s been some time since Shelton won as a coach and now that the three other coaches will team up against him, he’ll probably have a hard time next season.
