‘The Walking Dead’: Everything We Know About the ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ Crossover
Since the spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead, was created, fans have been wondering when it will crossover with The Walking Dead. After three seasons, the show will finally do so, and now, there is an answer to which character will appear in the spinoff show.
Sadly, only one character will appear in the prequel series. This gives an opportunity for the audience to see a character’s life much earlier in the outbreak and meet other people in their lives. So what do we know about the crossover so far?
Here are seven things we know, including which character is going to be in Fear the Walking Dead.
1. Morgan Jones will appear in the crossover
Lennie James’ Morgan has been a character on The Walking Dead almost since the beginning and introduced Rick Grimes to this new world. So it kind of makes sense that he will be the character to bring the original show and the spinoff together.
According to Deadline, James is going to start filming in Austin, Texas for Fear the Walking Dead. Fans shouldn’t worry about seeing less of Morgan on the original show. “Even though Morgan is going to be featured on Fear, he has a lot of story left on The Walking Dead,” said showrunner Scott M. Gimple in a statement. “Morgan’s arch on The Walking Dead Season 8 positioned him for the story on Fear.”
The showrunner also said, “It was also important to see Fear‘s world and characters through new yet familiar eyes.” This is the official crossover casting for the television event. But fans have also guessed that another familiar character will appear.
2. Morgan’s storyline will be picked up for Fear the Walking Dead
Since Fear the Walking Dead’s timeline starts before the original show, Morgan’s story will take a few steps back in the crossover event.
“Morgan’s story will continue in this season of The Walking Dead,” explained Gimple. “And then, it begins again in the upcoming season of Fear the Walking Dead, pushing the series — and The Walking Dead universe itself — into new directions and possibilities.”
3. There was a live stream of Lennie James’ first day on set

The cast celebrated James’ first day on the show by having a livestream follow him. This included a table read with Colman Domingo, Frank Dillane, and Alycia Debnam-Carey. He also got to walk around a little bit on set.
4. Fear the Walking Dead‘s finale had fans thinking Abraham Ford would appear in the crossover
The finale of last season showed characters heading to Houston after Alicia is invited to board Proctor John’s ship. This was a bit suspicious, given Abraham Ford was in Houston with his family around this time.
This led to the creators having to answer some questions about the crossover.
5. Co-creator denies that Abraham Ford will appear in the crossover
The theory of Abraham Ford’s possible appearance really took off, which meant the co-creator Dave Erickson had to set some things straight.
“Look, that city is a happy coincidence,” said Erickson. “The idea of Texas really came from the Proctor John character, nothing more planned there.”
6. The crossover will reportedly be limited to just one character
The announcement of Morgan crossing over is most likely a sign that the Abraham Ford theory is truly dead. That’s because when Robert Kirkman announced there will be a crossover, he said it will only involve one character.
“There is one character that is going to go from one show, that I will not name, to another show, that I will not name,” he teased at New York Comic-Con.
7. The crossover will air next year

There is still a lot of time we have to wait for the crossover event. It will appear next year, and there has yet to be a set date for Fear the Walking Dead‘s premiere.
