The Wardrobe Essentials Joanna Gaines Is Wearing This Fall

When it comes to beautiful decor, there’s no one who makes a house a home quite like Joanna Gaines. You may know her best for her country style and shiplap (and, of course, her hard-working husband assisting her in making her vision come to life). But like any good decorator, she doesn’t keep her style solely for her living space. In fact, her fall clothing choices, while looking totally effortless and comfortable, also remind us of how absolutely chic Joanna is, no matter what she’s doing.

Here are the clothing pieces Joanna swears by when fall weather arrives in Waco, Texas.

The perfect jeans

Citizens of Humanity Racer Skinny jeans – $228

Levi’s Mile High Super Skinny Jeans – $98

Joanna likes to keep it simple, functional, and stylish when it comes to autumn. On the Magnolia blog, she says she’s all about good basics, as she’ll invest in them and wear them for years to come. For this reason, good jeans are essential. They’re versatile, functional, and perfect for decorating, lounging around the house, or taking care of the kids.

It’s clear Joanna likes a jean that fits close to the body, and she’s also a fan of crops. The Citizens of Human Racer Skinny jeans or a classic pair of Levi’s will do the trick.

Boots that’ll last for years

Freebird Drove boots – $250

Joanna loves boots — and though she says she’s tempted every year to get a new pair, she really loves the look and feel of a good pair that’ve been worn in over the years. On her blog, she swears by Freebird Drove boots for working on the farm and demolition days. “You want to invest in boots that can withstand some scratches and dents and still look good,” she adds.

Denim button-downs that can be layered

Women’s Labette Denim Shirt – $19.99

“I like denim and I like denim on denim,” Joanna says on the blog. She added that she typically finds all of her clothing online, as she has no time to shop anymore. For that reason, one of her favorite tops is a denim piece sent to her from Evereve.

To go with the denim shirt, she says she likes to wear a camisole underneath, or she’ll add a sweater, necklace, or scarf over top. And the best part about denim shirts is that they don’t have to break the bank. Head to your local Target for one that’s under $20.

Leather or gold jewelry

Rhodes Leather Wrap Bracelet – $34

Mini Leather Bracelet – $62

As for jewelry, Joanna doesn’t like to have anything too fussy to wear — but she still loves to look sleek and stylish. For this reason, she stands by simple pieces that are typically gold, leather, or both. We love the Rhodes Leather Wrap Bracelet and the Mini Leather Bracelet from the Magnolia collection. One of Joanna’s personal all-time favorites is the Mini Leather Bracelet, too, because the color and style goes well with the rest of her wardrobe.

A roomy leather bag

Verona Tote – $198

It’s no surprise that Joanna’s go-to bag is also a beautiful leather tote. “I can walk out the door with jeans and a t-shirt, throw this leather bag over my shoulder, and still look put together!” she says of this bag that’s now discontinued from her Magnolia collection.

While you can no longer get that specific bag, Magnolia still offers a variety of other beautiful leather bags that are completely inspired by Joanna’s personal taste. The Verona Tote is spacious, beautiful, and totally unique. We highly recommend.

Joanna makes it clear that having great basics is the way to go — and she rarely follows the trends. “For me, it’s better to fill my closet with quality items I know I can wear multiple times,” she says on her blog. “I want to be able to relax and feel good in whatever I wear.”

She also notes that layering basics is the best way to look fashionable and stay comfortable. Comfort is key — especially when you’re running from one business to the next, working outside, and trying to look presentable for clients. And Joanna also swears by jewelry to take an outfit from simple to totally elevated.
