The Weird Thing Kanye West Used to Do When He Was Pining For Kim Kardashian

The Kardashian-West clan are a well-established family of six, but it wasn’t always like that. There was a time when Kanye West could only dream of being near Kim Kardashian. In fact, it took nine years from the time they met until they decided to tie the knot, and much of that was spent with West pursuing her. But the timing was never right- until one day it finally was. The story of how Kim Kardashian and Kanye West fell in love will make your heart melt, and it just might make you a believer in happy endings.

West first fell for Kardashian-West when he saw a paparazzi photo of her hanging out with Paris Hilton. He later told Ryan Seacrest: “I remember I saw I picture of her and Paris Hilton, and I remember telling my boy, ‘Have you seen that girl?'”

After that, he was smitten and tried to do whatever he could to get her attention. But Kardashian-West was dating football player Reggie Bush. And when they broke up, before West could make his move, Kardashian-West started a relationship with Kris Humphries — a relationship that ended with only 72 days of marriage.

West dreamed of Kardashian-West for a long time

During the time Kardashian-West was dating other people, and trying to figure out what she wanted, West was dreaming about being with her. On an episode of Kris Jenner‘s talk show, it was revealed that before they started dating, West would draw himself into the Kardashian family Christmas card.

Jenner told the audience: “He would take the photo when he saw it online and would Photoshop himself into the card and then share it with Kim.” West’s mother-in-law then brought a photo up for the audience to see. It was their Christmas card with a stick figure next to Kardashian drawn in black sharpie. Jenner then added: “This is absolutely adorable and I know you don’t want me to call you adorable, but it is.”

During the same interview, West admitted that he would dream of Kardashian-West. “I just dreamed about being next to her,” he said. He also revealed that he thought about switching careers to get her attention because Kardashian had a history of dating sports stars. West said he was “so in love” with Kardashian-West that he thought about “playing sports.”

“I don’t know why it took us so long to get together,” Kardashian-West once told Oprah, “but I think I needed to go through all my experiences.”

However, during the entire time she was going through her experiences, Kardashian-West was keeping feelings for West. She told Access Hollywood, as reported by People: “I was always attracted to him. But when I first met him we worked on a project together and there was definitely a spark, but we were in other relationships, and we kept our distance, and that was really that.”

It wasn’t until her marriage to Humphries failed after only 72 days, that Kardashian-West finally gave West a chance.

“Right before I got married to Kris Humphries, [Kanye and I] were talking, and I just went a different direction,” she recalled on a Keeping up with the Kardashians anniversary special. “I think I had to go through that to figure out what I wanted. After my breakup, I was feeling really low and down and he said, ‘Just come to Paris and see my fashion show.’ He jokes that he put on this whole fashion show just to get a date with me. So I went there and I stayed with him, and that’s where we started dating.”

She added: “I swear from the moment I landed, I fell madly in love with him and I thought, ‘Oh, my God, why didn’t I do this sooner?’ Like, this is what real life is like — love and fun and real support.”

Now that’s a happy ending.
