The Duggars are known for doing things differently than most other people in America. They don’t smoke, drink, dance, watch mainstream movies, or attend public school. Women never wear pants, bathing suits, or shorts. The whole family avoids going to the beach.
One common practice they do participate in? Wedding ceremonies. The Duggars take nuptial events very seriously, and most Duggar children experience their first kiss on their wedding day. The newlyweds embark on honeymoons just like so many other couples. And yes, they even have bachelor and bachelorette parties in advance of their weddings.
But if you thought engaged Duggar family members flew to Vegas to hit up all the wildest strip clubs before tying the knot – you’d be incorrect. Ahead, check out how the Duggars really party before their weddings.
Josh Duggar went out to dinner with his sisters
It’s not much of a bachelor party, but for Josh’s last meal as a single man, he headed to a “fancy” Italian restaurant that his sister Jana picked out. “Jana, you got class!” he exclaimed when they walked inside. Other than a slightly awkward dinner with his sisters, Josh didn’t have any big party prior to his wedding to Anna.
Jill Duggar got to be a princess at her bachelorette party
When Jill and her family went wedding dress shopping, she donned a crown while her mom and sisters went around the room saying nice things about her. There were many tears and sweet words during this very moving ritual.
Meanwhile, future husband Derick Dillard did a bit of male bonding with Jill’s dad, Ben Seewald, and brother John-David Duggar. They spent time in the great outdoors, roasted s’mores, and talked about life. Then they all went rock climbing.
Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald combined their parties
Coed bachelor and bachelorette parties are becoming all the rage, and Jessa and Ben decided to join in on the trend. They organized a family football game before their wedding day and just about everyone in the family got involved. Then all the ladies signed a pink football and gave it to Jessa as a memento. Sweet, right?
Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo planned their escapes
Of course, the lovebirds weren’t trying to escape from each other. They both had a friendly competition where teams of boys and girls solved puzzles in themed Escape Rooms. Some of Jeremy’s close friends even flew in for the event.
After, the men went golfing together while Jinger and crew went home to do some jewelry making. Who says you need alcohol to have fun?
Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth’s party went into the wilderness
For this coed adventure, Joy forbade anyone from bringing RVs or otherwise “glamping.” They had to rough it out in nature instead. The crew went kayaking during the day and enjoyed some delicious s’mores around the campfire at night, complete with a girls vs. boys dating game. Naturally.
Joseph Duggar and Kendra went out on the water
Keeping up the tradition of outdoorsy bachelor and bachelorette parties, Joseph and Kendra planned a day out on the water complete with a tubing/boating excursion. Then the girls and boys participated in a huge game of human foosball. Are you noticing a theme yet?
Clearly, the Duggar family doesn’t do bachelor and bachelorette parties like most people. But they like things just the way they are!
