These Celebrities Really Love HGTV
Celebrities really are just like us sometimes. They’re fans of some of the same shows we love and they enjoy lounging around for hours (or days) binge-watching their favorite home renovation and property hunting programs on HGTV.
Yep, many stars tune into the network to see everything from all the amazing transformations to which homes people decide to purchase. Need proof? Here are just a few stars who are also slightly obsessed with Home & Garden Television just like you.
Reese Witherspoon has admitted that she loves HGTV so much that she and her husband, Jim Toth, have wanted to start their own design show on the network which they would call “Dirty River Flippers.” However, as she explained on the The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon she and Toth are no Chip and Joanna Gaines.
“We don’t have any talent constructing or building, and I can’t really design anything,” the Big Little Lies star said. “So, we’re just going to take houses that have a view of a dirty river and just imagine what it would be like if it was better.”
Witherspoon did get to meet Mrs. Gaines though when she traveled to Mongolia Farms in Septemeber 2018. Maybe Joanna gave her some tips then.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
The couple that watches HGTV together, stays together. We don’t know if that’s actually true but it sure works for Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds who are both avid Fixer Upper fans.
“What they do with the homes they renovate is just incredible,” Lively told People. “I’ve practically looked into enrolling my kids in school in Waco.”
Her hubby agreed and tweeted about moving there, writing, “Current goal: Move family to Waco. Infiltrate the lives of [Joanna Gaines and Chip Gaines]. Eat stuff. Build stuff. Smash stuff.”
Comedic actor Seth Rogan has been a fan of the network for years and in 2015, he made a point about addictive it can be from the moment you tune in.
“I think I’ve been watching HGTV for the last 179 hours straight,” he tweeted.
Kate Hudson can’t get enough of HGTV either. She’s not only posted Instagram stories of herself watching Fixer Upper in bed, but she also professed her love for House Hunters. During an interview with The Cut, she explained that the show really helps her wind down.
“My real relaxing is, ugh, I just want to be in bed. I want my whole family there. I want to just watch House Hunters International or something,” the actress said.
Like many of us, Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt was sad when it was announced that Fixer Upper was ending in April 2018. He even tweeted about how much he learned from watching the show.
“Congrats on an incredible run @chipgaines & @joannagaines! Thanks to you, I now know what shiplap is and I desire to participate in a demo day,” he wrote. “Thanks for taking us along on the journey!”
Hillary Rodham Clinton has spoken about how much she enjoys watching the network and said that Love It or List It is one of her favorite shows. After losing the 2016 presidential election, Clinton explained that she spent time with loved ones and watched lots and lots of HGTV.
“I surrounded myself with friends and caught up on some of the shows that people have been telling me about for years, as well as a lot of HGTV,” she wrote in her memoir What Happened. “I believe this is what some call ‘self-care.’ It turns out, it’s pretty great.”
