Anytime Barack and Michelle Obama are photographed together, they can’t seem to hide their love for each other. Their clear connection is particularly admirable, considering they’ve been married for over 25 years.
Over the years, we’ve gotten some amazing shots of the couple either sharing an intimate moment or goofing off together. However, some of our favorites are photos from their wedding day that Michelle and Barack have posted to social media.
Here are some of the most swoon-worthy photos of the Obamas, from a wedding throwback posted by Barack (page 6) to the special moment Michelle most recently shared from their wedding day (page 8).
1. Holding each other close
- He couldn’t get over how good she looked.
Barack and Michelle’s first dance as president and first lady at the Neighborhood Ball was a serious tear-jerker. The two looked hopelessly in love while looking into each other’s eyes throughout their dance. And, of course, they were being serenaded by Beyoncé, who was singing “At Last” by Etta James.
Barack made sure to let the crowd know just how much he admires his wife. After an introduction by Denzel Washington, the president asked, “First of all, how good looking is my wife?”

2. Adjusting his bow tie
- She made sure he looked good for a visit from the Chinese president.
Michelle was there for Barack when she adjusted his bow tie to make sure he was looking his best. From the adorable facial expression on Barack’s face to Michelle’s caring nature, this is one of their most adorable moments ever.
This photo was captured just before Chinese president Xi Jinping arrived at the White House in 2015. It’s safe to say they definitely looked the part while greeting their guest.

3. Having fun together
- Barack had this warning about Michelle being near a tamale.
We can’t get over this hilarious moment between Barack and Michelle that made us love them even more. During a 2011 Cinco de Mayo reception at the White House, Barack took a jab at Michelle about her deep love for tamales:
I asked Michelle the other day, I said, “What’s your favorite food?” — because we were sitting around with the girls. She said, “Oh, Mexican food.” You do not want to be between Michelle and a tamale. That is true. That’s true. But she’s moving, though, so she can afford to have as many tamales as she wants.

4. Gorgeous photo shoot
- Modeling could be their true calling.
The former first couple brought out their modeling skills together by posing for the cover of Essence magazine during the final days of the Obama presidency. They were also featured in an exclusive interview, which touched upon “their life in the White House, the state of the nation, and the legacy they hope to leave behind.”
All the photos from the magazine were gorgeous, but the photo above showed a truly intimate moment that captured just how much they love each other.
Next: They couldn’t resist a little PDA.
5. Stealing a kiss
- They can get through anything — as long as they have each other.
Even when they were the first couple, Barack and Michelle didn’t refrain from a little PDA from time to time. It was no different on the last day of his presidency, when he handed off his duties to Donald Trump.
It was surely difficult for the Obamas to say goodbye to the White House after eight years, but the adorable photo above proves they can get through anything together.

6. Anniversary throwback
- Barack referenced their first dance song in this Instagram post.
Back in 2013, the president himself shared this rare glimpse into their wedding day. He posted this photo to Instagram on their anniversary, writing the caption, “‘You and I’ #21Years.”
Barack and Michelle are still looking just as in love today as they did on their wedding day, which was on Oct. 3, 1992. They shared their first dance to Stevie Wonder’s song titled, you guessed it, “You and I.”

7. A sweet message to her husband
- Michelle posted this photo from their wedding day.
After 25 years of marriage, Michelle graced us with yet another photo from their big day. She shared the sweet message to Barack on her Instagram photo, “Happy 25th anniversary @barackobama. A quarter of a century later, you’re still my best friend & the most extraordinary man I know. I [heart] you.”
Without saying much, Michelle managed to make us teary-eyed with her adorable note to her husband.

8. A wedding miracle
- The story tied to this adorable photo is too perfect.
This photo of Barack and Michelle could be our favorite yet. The former first lady posted this throwback on May 23, 2018, giving us a glimpse into their wedding day miracle with her caption:
You can’t tell it from this photo, but Barack woke up on our wedding day in October, 1992 with a nasty head cold. Somehow, by the time I met him at the altar, it had miraculously disappeared and we ended up dancing almost all night. Twenty five years later, we’re still having fun, while also doing the hard work to build our partnership and support each other as individuals. I can’t imagine going on this wild ride with anybody else.
