This ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Star Is Being Called a Doppelganger of John Krasinski

The series finale of The Office was all the way back in 2013, but you might feel you’ve stepped back in time tuning into Bachelor in Paradise. However, that’s not Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) walking around the island — it’s Bachelor star Derek Peth.

A quick glance around Peth’s Instagram page will reveal why so many are calling him a doppelgänger for the A Quiet Place and Jack Ryan star. Shortly after he made his TV Debut, Peth pointed out to his fans that he recognized the resemblance as he posted a picture of himself side-by-side with Krasinski on Instagram.

Peth went as far as tagging the photo location “Scranton, Pennsylvania” — the setting of The Office. So far, Peth has proved himself more talented at stealing America’s hearts than selling paper, but we’re thinking he could show up at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company without turning too many heads.

John Krasinski and Derek Peth’s resemblance

Both men have some of the same defining features: a great beard, playful brown hair, and expressive, piercing eyes. In fact, Peth listed his “baby blues” as his best attribute during his initial run on The Bachelorette back in 2016.

Krasinski first won hearts with his role as Jim Halpert in The Office, which spent 2005-2013 as one of America’s most popular shows. After nine hit seasons, Krasinski moved on to film and released his most critically acclaimed project in 2018, A Quiet Place. He directed, co-wrote, and co-starred in the film alongside his wife Emily Blunt.

Since then, he was cast in the Amazon Original series Jack Ryan as the title character and continues to see his star rise. As Peth and Krasinski both get more screen time, fans are commenting more and more often on the resemblance between the two.

America was first introduced to Peth in season 12 of The Bachelorette, a season mostly defined by the mixed fan reaction to winner Jordan Rodgers. Peth made it to the final 7 competing for JoJo Fletcher’s hand but didn’t make too much of an impact on the season.

After the season, his online fanbase and resemblance to Krasinski slowly grew his popularity, resulting in him returning for Bachelor In Paradise Season 4 in 2017. He found happiness there, eventually getting engaged to Taylor Nolan during the Season 4 after-show.

However, they called off the engagement in 2018 and Peth returned to Bachelor In Paradise for Season 6 in 2019. After a few weeks in Bachelor In Paradise, he engaged in a whirlwind romance with Demi Burnett. Unfortunately, Burnett ended up choosing Kristian Haggerty and Peth left the show after butting heads with fan-fave John Paul Jones over Tayshia Adams.

What’s next for Derek Peth?

Peth stayed in Bachelor Nation’s headlines after the show, continuing to discuss his feud with Jones and leaving comments on Adams’ Instagram posts. Given Peth’s massive fan appeal and resemblance to Krasinski, it’s unlikely that he’ll stay off TV very long.

Multiple Bachelor alums, including Wells Adams, are pushing to make Peth the next Bachelor. While the Bachelor is traditionally chosen from the previous Bachelorette‘s season of runner-ups, Peth has done his time on The Bachelorette and the fans want more.

Given his continuing communication with other Bachelor alums after his final airdates, it wouldn’t be a shock to see some of them return if the man does get a run as The Bachelor. However, plenty of former contestants have been content to build their own brand after the show, branching out on their own.
