This Chadwick Boseman Tweet Just Became the Most Liked Tweet in Twitter History!

The death of Chadwick Boseman has had many in the Hollywood and fan communities sharing their grief. Boseman died on Aug. 28 after four year battle with colon cancer. Boseman’s family made the announcement, and other users have shared their stories of Boseman. Those included Boseman’s Marvel colleagues and other people with whom he’s made movies, and people he touched in and outside the media.

Twitter announced one Boseman tweet became its most liked tweet ever in the history of the social media platform. Find out which tweet had millions of users clicking like below, and which other popular tweets Boseman’s overtook. 

Twitter declares this Chadwick Boseman tweet the most liked tweet ever

On Aug. 28, Boseman’s family posted a message announcing his passing. “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” the tweet began. “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”

The Boseman family tweet had 6.4 million likes when Twitter declared it, “Most liked Tweet ever. A tribute fit for a King. #WakandaForever.” It as 7 million likes as of this writing. 

Chadwick Boseman’s memorial tweet overtook Barack Obama’s tweets

Prior to Boseman’s death, the two most liked tweets belonged to former President Barack Obama. On Jan. 28, Obama’s tweet quoting Nelson Mandela “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion…” received 4.3 million likes.

Just behind that one, Obama’s memorial tweet to Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna got four million likes. A happy birthday tweet to his wife, Michelle, also got over three million likes.

Meanwhile, Bryant’s final tweet, praising LeBron James, got 2.7 million.

Andy Milonakis and Macaulay Culkin have the next most liked tweets

On May 30, when SpaceX launched, Andy Milonakis tweeted a joke. “Congratulations to the Astronauts that left Earth today, “Milonakis wrote. “Good choice.”

Even Milonakis was surprised when he got over 1 million likes on that joke. The tweet was on its way to 3.6 million total likes. 

Culkin’s recent 40th birthday tweet also tops the list of most liked tweets. On Aug. 26, just two days before Boseman’s death, Culkin tweeted, “Hey guys, wanna feel old? I’m 40. You’re welcome.”

The tweet has 3.3 million likes. Culkin followed it up with more jokes about being a grown-up and having a midlife crisis.

BTS also have a lot of million liked tweets too

The K-Pop band BTS also has several tweets with millions of likes. A simple “Hi Army” on Aug. 16 got three million likes.

And a video of Jungkook singing got another 3 million.
