This Fan Theory About ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Makes So Much Sense
With all the nostalgic appeal of Stranger Things, it’s no wonder so many fans are excited for Season 4. The show has taken Netflix by storm thanks to the 80s memories, true friendships, and a terrifying look into the Upside Down. But last season of this sci-fi horror series got mixed reviews, which is spurring some very interesting predictions for our next visit to Hawkins.
Stranger Things is currently filming their fourth season after a dramatic conclusion that saw one of the most beloved characters, Jim Hopper, meet his end (at least, we think he did).
Will we lose another main character next time? Some fans think so — and they think they might know who.
‘Stranger Things’ needs a big change
Even though Stranger Things fans were excited to catch up with Mike, Eleven, Dustin, and Lucas last season, plenty were slightly annoyed that the plot of the third season was too much like events in the first season. While the series is very unique compared to most other shows, the last season was slightly boring in comparison.
There is one easy way for show creators Matt and Ross Duffer to shake things up. But it could be a controversial move.
Rumor has it a major character might be killed
One way to revive a tired television series is by killing off a main character. In the case of Stranger Things, many fans are predicting that Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) could be the next to go.
Steve’s death would certainly bring shock value to the show. Over the last season, Steve became an important part of the cast, but he’s still not one of the core characters. Losing Steve would be a difficult proposition, but it wouldn’t enrage the fans too much — like if the writers decided to kill Eleven.
No one knows what ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 will bring
Filming for the fourth season of Stranger Things is slated to begin in January and will wrap up by the end of summer. Like seasons before, we know that Season 4 will include only 8 episodes.
Besides just experiencing a major character death, fans are also predicting that the location might shift from Hawkins, Indiana to a new location. Now that we’ve seen several seasons all happening in basically the same place, a change of scenery could deliver the much-needed new content that everyone wants to see.
Plus, the teaser for the fourth season says quite clearly, “We’re not in Hawkins anymore.”
Will this be the last season of ‘Stranger Things’?
Back in 2017, the Duffer Brothers said that they only planned to shoot four seasons of the show, meaning they’d be wrapping up next year for good. But now that it’s become so popular, producer Shawn Levy predicts they’ll go back on that promise.
“The truth is we’re definitely going four seasons and there’s very much the possibility of a fifth,” Levy explained. “Beyond that, it becomes I think very unlikely.”
We’ll take as much Stranger Things as we can get — even if we do have to bid farewell to some of our favorite characters!
