This Is The Real War Between Prince Harry And Prince William
Prince Harry’s relationship with Prince William has been the subject of a lot of speculation in recent months. Ever since Harry tied the knot with Meghan Markle, rumors of an apparent feud between the brothers have been steadily heating up. Most of the reports have involved Markle and her inability to get along with Kate Middleton.
Recent developments, however, hint at another reason behind the war between William and Harry – and it has everything to do with public perception.
Prince Harry and Prince William compete for attention
Members of the royal family usually stagger public appearances and major sponsorships so that they are not in competition with each other. But those traditional scheduling practices were thrown out the window this past weekend when William and Harry both shared photos on social media on the same day.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released a handful of adorable pictures of their three children enjoying a day at a garden show. On the same day, Harry and Markle shared a slew of images from their wedding in honor of their first anniversary.
According to E! Online, the timing of the photos left some royal experts wondering if Prince William and Middleton were intentionally trying to steal Harry and Markle’s thunder.
In fact, some royal sources claim that the brothers are actively competing against each other for the spotlight, which has led to some contention within the family. Even if the rumors are false, the brothers could definitely do better coordinating schedules to avoid future conflicts.
Is there a split in the royal family?
Prior to his relationship with Markle, Prince Harry and Prince William were viewed as sharing a close bond. The brothers have enjoyed a combined house for the past decade, with their main office at St. James’ Palace.
The office was established in 2009 and many viewed it as a sign that William and Harry were finally establishing themselves outside of their father’s shadow. Their joint partnership, however, changed once Harry tied the knot and started a family with Markle.
Last year, the couple announced plans to split the royal house into two separate entities. The move sparked concerns of a major falling out between William and Harry, though the family insisted that it was simply time for Harry to embark on his own journey.
After all, the brothers are set to follow entirely different paths once Prince Charles takes the throne. This could explain why Harry and Prince William opted to divide their houses, though it likely will not stop the feud rumors from circulating.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle start their own journey
Harry and Markle lived inside Kensington Palace during their engagement and first few months of married life. But shortly after the former actress announced her pregnancy, the couple decided to move away from Nottingham Cottage to a new estate some 22 miles away.
The pair officially moved to Frogmore Cottage ahead of the birth of their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, which is on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
The couple also started their own social media accounts and hired a new team to manage them. The team still reports to Queen Elizabeth’s secretary of communications, though they enjoy a good amount of independence from the crown. The decision to open the accounts is also a calculated move to modernize the monarchy, something that both Prince Harry and Prince William have been doing for the past decade.
Will Prince Harry and Prince William make amends?
The royal family has yet to address the rumors about Harry and William’s growing feud – and they likely never will. Until more information is revealed, it is difficult to say how things are really going behind the scenes.
Whatever the truth, it is clear that Harry and William’s social media teams need to get on the same page to prevent further scrutiny. This is especially important given Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity around the world and the fact that William is second in line to the throne. The last thing the royal family needs is William and Middleton to lose popular support and become overshadowed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
