‘This Is Us’: Chrissy Metz Has the Same Little Girl Dream as Kate Pearson, and It’s Finally Coming True

Chrissy Metz plays one of the most complex characters on television right now. She is Kate Pearson on NBC’s hit show This Is Us. Kate struggles with anxieties over fitting into booths at a restaurant, miscarriage, and still grappling with her father’s death.

On the show, young Kate always had dreams of becoming a singer like her mother, Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore). Present-day Kate is still working on those aspirations, but Chrissy Metz is seeing them come to fruition. Read on to find out how.

Executive Producers on ‘This Is Us’ worked Metz’s personal interest in singing into the show

From the moment people meet Metz, they can see her genuine heart. That’s why co-showrunner, Elizabeth Berger felt so strongly about writing Metz’s musical aspirations onto This Is Us

Berger told Glamour, “Chrissy loves and feels the show deeply, and you can feel it in every interaction she has on set.” The writing team for This Is Us knows that music is a massive passion for Metz, so they want to bring that passion to the set. It makes the acting on the show more authentic.

In 2018, Metz told Glamour, “I really want to do maybe some pop-country or country.” She also said, “I would love to produce some film, maybe eventually be in a musical and have a production company.”

Just one year later, it looks like her dream of producing an album may be coming true.

Metz reveals to fans when they can expect her debut country album

Metz is no stranger to the musical scene. She has slowly been winning over audiences. In April of this year, Metz released a video for her song, “I’m Standing With You.” Then she made her live singing debut with country-star Carrie Underwood at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Just last week, she had the chance to cover Luke Combs smash hit, “Even Though I’m Leaving,” at the 2019 CMT Artists of the Year Ceremony. The crowd loved it.

At the Last Chance for Animals 35th Anniversary Gala, Metz told Us, “I’m working on some personal music in the country space, which is very exciting.” She continued, “It’s been my little girl dreams, so working and cowriting on music. Hopefully, I’ll have some new music come out in the new year and just cultivating and writing scripts and trying to sell intellectual property of stories that mean something to me.”

She’s finally coming out with that country album in 2020. We can’t wait to hear it.

Metz sang in her new movie ‘Breakthrough’

In March of 2019, Metz made her film debut in the based-on-a-true-story movie, Breakthrough. Metz played Joyce Smith, the mother of the boy who tragically falls through the ice and almost dies.

Metz had the pleasure of being featured on the soundtrack of the faith-based movie. Diane Warren wrote the song that Metz felt blessed and terrified to record.

She posted a behind the scenes look at the music video on Instagram. The new country singer said, “I’ve listened to Diane’s music all my life. I thought, ‘Oh, no!’ How do you bring it justice? Its a beautiful, big song, authentic and real.”

Warren agreed that she did an excellent job with the song.

We look forward to hearing Metz’s new country album in 2020.
