‘This Is Us’ season 6 spells the end of the Pearson family’s story

After five seasons on NBC, the Pearsons story, central to This Is Us, is coming to a close.

The series has focused on the life Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) built with their three children Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz), and Randall (Sterling K. Brown).

The group has evolved into an extended, close-knit clan that continues to be there for one another through the hardest of times.

According to series creator and producer Dan Fogelman, he is hopeful that the series’ final season will answer all lingering questions have regarding the clan.

Fogelman told The Hollywood Reporter his hopes as season 6 concludes.

“When we end this thing, I don’t think there will be anything left for you guys, who are constantly asking for six years about spoilers, to ask anymore. I hope we will have answered everything,” he explained.

Some viewers have strong opinions the episodes they’ve seen thus far

Fans took to the social media site Reddit to share their opinions regarding This Is Us‘ final season.

In a post titled “Have to get it off my chest,” one viewer wrote how disappointed they were by this season’s storylines.

They wrote the following remarks. “This season has been such a disappointment. The dialogue has been terrible. Kate is hell to watch, and her resentment toward Toby is caring. Not to mention the Kevin storyline is pathetic. Where has Randal been all season? This season feels like they are grasping for straws. It has lost all of its charms and is practically unwatchable.”

“Honestly, it’s a bit of a relief. I love Randall, but I feel like so many of the previous seasons revolved more around his storyline than the other 2,” one viewer responded.

“It’s not that bad, but it doesn’t seem like a final season,” claimed a second Reddit user.

“Partly agree. Some good moments, but more often than not, I found myself bored or surprised an episode was over as I felt nothing relevant or interesting happened at all,” shared a third viewer.

This Is Us will celebrate its 100th episode with a Kate-centric episode titled “The Hill.”

“The Hill” will focus on the breakdown of Kate and Toby’s (Chris Sullivan) relationship. Kate will travel to San Francisco, where Toby has relocated during the week for work, to save her faltering marriage.

Kate, tasked with fulfilling her mother’s final wishes if her stepfather Miguel (Jon Huertas) was not there to do so, may spend the episode interpreting her mother’s directive: to live life fearlessly.

Does that mean Kate will stop fighting to save her marriage to Toby or give everything she has to fix their broken union?

Viewers will find out during tonight’s episode of This Is Us.

This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
