‘This Is Us’: Mandy Moore Reveals What It’s Really Like Working With Everyone
As audiences get ready for the fourth season of This Is Us, we start to wonder about the people behind the show. The comedy-drama is a highly emotional look into the lives of the Pearson family. It takes some special actors to make these characters come alive.
Lucky for us, one of the stars, Mandy Moore, recently gave us an inside peek into the personalities of her castmates. What she said made us think the cast of This Is Us is a really special group of people.
‘This Is Us’ is winning over audiences
NBC’s comedy-drama show, This Is Us, has been enchanting audiences by pulling at their heartstrings. The show follows the lives of two parents and their three children through several different timeframes.
Moore recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss her This Is Us castmates, and she had some great things to say about them. “I love everybody,” she said about the entire group. “We’re one big goofy family.” But Moore did take the time to break it down for us. She listed each cast member and gave her thoughts, one by one.
How does Mandy Moore feel about the guys on the cast?
About Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Jack Pearson, Moore said he is an “incredible snacker.” Whenever a scene wraps, he’s always the first one to ask if she wants a snack. And Ventimiglia doesn’t snack on carrots and celery, he goes straight for the sugar.
According to Moore, they encourage each other to up their sugar intake and can often be found snacking on Nerds or SweetTarts, which Moore said she doesn’t usually like, but around Ventimiglia, she always finds herself eating them.
When it came to Sterling Brown, who plays Randall Pearson, Moore said, “He’s larger than life. In every way and in the best way.” She commented on Brown’s sensitivity and said he’s someone she can always talk to about life. According to Moore, he’s the best person to have a conversation with, because he gives great advice. Brown also has tons of charisma. In fact, Moore thinks he should run for president. “I would vote for him in a heartbeat,” she said.
Justin Hartley, who plays Kevin Pearson, got lots of compliments from Moore. “He’s the most low-key, unexpectedly funny person on set,” she said.
How does Mandy Moore feel about the other women on the cast?
Moore called Susan Kelechi Watson, who plays Beth Pearson, “the heartbeat of our family.” Now that’s a sweet thing to say, but it sounds like Watson deserves it.
Out of all the people on set, Moore wishes that she could spend more time with Watson. They don’t have many scenes together, so when they do occasionally get to work together, Moore always enjoys it. “I feel the most soulfully connected to her,” Moore said.
On the other hand, the cast member Moore does get to spend the most time with is Chrissy Metz, who plays Kate Pearson. And she has no complaints about that because Moore loves spending time with Metz and talking about life. She even has a nickname for her that they came up with in hair and makeup. “Chrissy Mitsey,” Moore calls her.
