‘This Is Us:’ The 1 Award Milo Ventimiglia has that His Co-Stars Don’t

You know a TV show is popular when the people who watch it take the time to create their own theories. That’s the case with This Is Us and the many fan theories about the show. The show won fans over right away when it debuted in 2016, and it’s been a favorite ever since. Milo Ventimiglia and the cast won Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2018 and 2019 for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama. However, there’s one honor in Ventimiglia’s trophy case that makes him different from his castmates.

Milo Ventimiglia went back to college to receive an award. Sort of. Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals presented him with its 2019 Man of The Year Award on Feb. 8, 2019. The troupe started handing out the award in 1967.

The Sylvester Stallone lookalike was there to receive his honor as Man of the Year and watch Hasty Pudding’s 171st production. He toured the campus and Farkas Hall, where the troupe stages its creations, affixed a nameplate to the Man of the Year winners’ board, and watched the play.

Did Milo Ventimiglia attend Harvard?

Yes, Milo Ventimiglia received an award at Harvard, but he didn’t attend the school. He grew up in southern California and was a theater major at UCLA before he started his acting career.

He’s in some fine company with his Man of the Year Award

As Hasty Pudding’s Man of the Year award winner, Milo Ventimiglia rubs shoulders with some elite company. Bob Hope won the inaugural award in 1967, and Paul Rudd won in 2018.

In between, stars such as Paul Newman, Steven Spielberg, Sean Connery, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Ryan Reynolds, and Robert De Niro won Hasty Pudding’s Award.

The hilarious thing he said about his mom

A celebrity roast is a part of winning the Man of the Year award, and the Harvard students didn’t hold back while lambasting the This Is Us star.

Two students said it’s ironic Milo Ventimiglia is a vegetarian since “everyone sees you as a piece of meat.” The actor performed a mild lap dance to the Fergie song Big Girls Don’t Cry (Ventimiglia appeared in the music video).

Ventimiglia’s mother took it all in, and he had a hilarious comment about her being in the crowd.

“My mom, who declined being my date two years in a row for the Emmys, made sure to be here tonight,” the actor said, according to the Associated Press.

He makes a lot of money for the show

Milo Ventimiglia has a few notable roles before This Is Us, but playing Jack Pearson is probably his signature role.

He played Jess Mariano on Gilmore Girls from 2001-06, and he showed up in four Boston Public episodes in 2003. A lead role in Heroes and the lead part on the TV miniseries Wolverine preceded his time on This Is Us.

Playing Jack Pearson is a well-paying gig for Ventimiglia. As of 2017, he was one of the highest-paid stars of This Is Us at $85,000 per episode. That translates to more than $1.5 million for an 18-episode season.

Milo Ventimiglia has an extensive resume and makes well into five figures for each episode, so it shouldn’t be surprising to see his net worth is through the roof. He has a $10 million fortune, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it grow the longer This Is Us stays on the air.
