Justin Hartley’s picture-perfect relationship with Chrishell Stause began in 2013 and has been going strong ever since. What you may not know; however, is that Hartley was married once before Stause, to actor Lindsay Korman. Hartley’s daughter, Isabella, is from his first marriage. Let’s take a look at that earlier failed marriage and what really happened.
Justin Hartley met Lindsay Korman on the set of ‘Passions’
Lindsay Korman met Justin Hartley in 2003 on the set of Passions. Lindsay Korman has also made appearances on the soap operas, Days of Our Lives and All My Children.
As a child, Korman competed in pageants and vocal competitions. As a teenager, she also performed in Las Vegas, and eventually moved to New York, where she joined the ensemble of the Grease revival. While on Broadway, Korman was the understudy for the role of Sandy and Patty Simcox. When Hartley joined the set of Passions, Lindsay was already a seasoned veteran on the show.
Hartley only dated Korman for 6 months before he proposed
Hartley popped the question to Korman on November 13, 2003. Korman said, “Yes,” making their dating history just six short months. The pair was then only engaged another six months before marrying in a small wedding on May 1, 2004.
During the couples’ eight-year marriage, they did have a vow renewal ceremony, so things must not have been all bad.
They also appeared on Smallville together in 2010. Hartley played billionaire Oliver Queen, who was secretly the Green Lantern on the show from 2006 to 2011. Korman guest-starred as a villain, Harriet, during season 10 of Smallville.
Korman and Hartley become parents just 2 short months after marrying
The pair had very little time as just newlyweds. Just two months after their wedding, Korman gave birth to their daughter, Isabella Justice, on July 3, 2004.
Korman took her next role on Days of Our Lives, but first took 18 months off to spend time with her daughter. She told welovesoaps.com in 2009, “I was a full-time mother. My husband was gone a lot, and we would go up to see him. … I talked to my grandmother a lot and she would say you’re so lucky to get that time from [age] 3 1/2 to 5 to be with her. That’s such a big time in their life.”
As with any celebrity marriage, Korman indicates that it was difficult having Hartley absent so often due to filming.
Hartley remains a great father who is very close to his daughter, Isabella, who recently celebrated a birthday. He posted a sweet note to her on Instagram, when she turned 15 last month, “Happy birthday to my Isabella! I’m so proud. Your kindness, honesty, generosity and humor are always on display. Congratulations on your wonderful spirit. I love you very much, Dad.”
Korman filed for divorce after eight years with Hartley
In May 2012, not long after the couple’s eighth anniversary, Korman filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to sources at TMZ.
Korman filed the documents in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The All My Children star asked for joint legal and physical custody.
Although Hartley’s first marriage was rocky, he was only single for two short years before meeting his second wife, Stause. Hartley and Stause have now been married for almost two years of absolute wedded bliss.
