‘This Is Us’: When Will Season 4 Start?
Since its premiere in 2016, This is Us has captivated audiences all over the country. The authentic, and sometimes, the heart-wrenching storyline takes viewers on a unique emotional journey each week.
With the super dramatic way that season three had ended, fans are eagerly awaiting to hear when the next season will premiere. There has been a lot of speculation as to when season four will air, but thanks to Sterling K. Brown (who plays Randall on the show), we now have a pretty good idea when will be able to see the Pearson family again.
When will season four of ‘This is us’ start?
Although we don’t know the exact day, we do know that season four will premiere sometime in September. We had a feeling that the season four would be starting sometime around September and Sterling K. Brown confirmed just that when he tweeted “See you in September, peeps! Love all ya’ll,” directly following the end of the season three finale.
So far, the first three seasons have aired on the third week of September. Season one premiered on September 20, 2016. Season two premiered on September 26, 2017. And season three premiered on September 25, 2018. So, it would be fair to say that we can probably expect the fourth season to start around the third week of September as well.
What can we expect to see in season 4?
Season three left a lot of questions unanswered. Sure, we found out that the infamous “her” was actually Rebecca. We also learned that when it comes to Randall and his wife Beth, love has prevailed and they will not be getting a divorce. But where does their relationship go from here? Who is the mother of Kevin’s son? And what is going on with Rebecca and the pin the tail on the donkey game?
If watching the end of season three made you feel drained, shell shocked, and happy, then the show’s creator, Dan Fogelman, has accomplished the job he had set out to do. According to People, he wants you to feel the same way after you have watched season four. Fogle has said before that he had come up with the pilot and the plot for the first four seasons of the show at the same time. So before anyone had even laid eyes on the beloved Pearson family, the show’s creator had already known what was going to be happening next season.
In an interview about the events that would be happening in the upcoming season of This is Us, Dan Fogelman had said: “Fans are going to like the way some things go, they’re going to have questions and not like the way other things go… I think that is the fun of making a TV series. We’re at the middle of the movie right now, we’re not at the end.”
How long will the show go on for?
Although the show puts its viewers through a lot of emotional ups and downs, we still can’t help but be compelled by the superb writing and acting skills of the cast and crew; their exceptional talent is what makes us crave more of the drama each week.
However, according to another one of the show’s creators, Isaac Aptaker, the show may only run for six seasons.
In an interview with Deadline, Aptaker had said that he already has a plan for the ending. He hopes that the end will be done in a very “elegant and satisfying” way that leaves the audience with the closure that they need.
While we are certainly not looking forward to the series ever ending, at least we know when it does, it will be done in a way that leaves us feeling good and having all of our questions eventually answered.
