This Is Who Will Replace Pauley Perrette On ‘NCIS’
Ever since Pauley Perrette announced that she would be leaving the hit show NCIS after 15 seasons, fans were wondering who would replace their favorite forensic scientist. Well now, we have that answer.
The network has promoted Diona Reasonover to series regular. The actress played Kasie Hines, a graduate assistant to David McCallum’s character Ducky, on Season 15 and appeared in scenes with Perrette in the episode “One Man’s Trash.” She then returned for the two final episodes of the series following Perrette’s departure and that’s when viewers began speculating if she would become her replacement.
“Queue @DionaReasonover! We are so excited to welcome you full-time to Season 16 of #NCIS as forensic scientist, Kasie Hines!” CBS TV tweeted on Wednesday, July 18.

The network is ready to move on from the drama that had reportedly occurred on set in the past with Perrette.
In October 2017, the 49-year-old confirmed via social media that she was leaving the military crime series.
“So, it is true that I am leaving NCIS after this season. There has been all kinds of false stories as to why (NO I DON’T HAVE A SKIN CARE LINE AND NO MY NETWORK AND SHOW ARE NOT MAD AT ME!),” she wrote. “It was a decision made last year. I hope everyone will love and enjoy EVERYTHING ABBY not only for the rest of this season but for everything she has given all of us for 16 years. All the love, all the laughter, all the inspiration…I love her as much as you do.”
She later did an interview in which she said the decision was made because she thought it was the right time. “I believe in God and the universe so firmly, and it just suddenly became blindingly apparent that now was the time,” she told TV Insider. “After a lot of thought, I decided to announce it myself on Twitter because I didn’t want it to be turned into anything ‘shocking.’ Abby leaving is more than a cheap TV ploy.”
The network responded to the accusations acknowledging that Perrette did report an incident at some point but the situation was handled and resolved.
While neither party elaborated on what the incident was, reports surfaced that the actress was feuding with the show’s star and executive producer, Mark Harmon, since 2016 when his dog bit a crew member. According to The Wrap, Perrette was upset about the canine still being on set after that happened and would not speak to Harmon or even film scenes with him.
“She did her scenes on one day and he did his work on other days, and they still produced a great show,” an insider said. “It was simply scheduled that they did not work the same days.”
It’s unclear if Harmon and Perrette ever made amends, but the show writers did not kill off Abby Sciuto so there’s always a chance she could appear on a future episode of the series.
NCIS returns on Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
