This Is Why People Are So Upset About Justin Bieber’s April Fool’s Day Pregnancy Prank
Not everyone thought Justin Bieber‘s latest prank was funny.
After posting photos that made it seem as though he and Hailey Baldwin were expecting a child together, it turns out the whole thing was just an April Fools’ Prank.
Though there were some people who loved that Justin Bieber was able to fool everyone, some did not appreciate the prank and immediately called out the singer.
In honor of April Fools’ Day, Justin Bieber decided to have some fun with fans and fellow celebrities.
Over the past few weeks, Bieber and his wife, Hailey Baldwin have been the center of many different pregnancy rumors and decided to play off that idea.
On April 1, Justin Bieber shared a sonogram to Instagram to trick fans into thinking the rumors were true that he and Hailey Baldwin were having a baby.
A few hours later, Bieber posted another photo but this time, it was of Hailey Baldwin in a doctor’s office holding her stomach.
The singer captioned the photo, “If U thought it was April fools,” and fans went into a frenzy thinking the couple finally confirmed they were having a baby.
Fans and fellow celebrities immediately began flooding the comments with congratulations and speculations about the baby’s gender.
However, soon after Justin Bieber shared that photo, he uploaded another sonogram but this time instead of a baby, there was a photo of a dog.
Justin Bieber might have had a great laugh after fooling everyone into believing he was going to a dad, but some people did not find the prank funny at all and called the singer out for his insensitive joke.
Justin started getting dragged on social media
Since revealing the whole thing was an April Fools’ prank, many fans have been slamming Justin Bieber on social media.
Many believe that the singer was insensitive to those who have experienced infertility and child loss and should have never made a joke like that.
One comment read, “I know your [sic] not at a mature state of mind yet to know the struggles and pains a lot of people suffer … from infertility and child loss. But faking a pregnancy is not a joke or prank. It shows that your [sic] still immature, insensitive and [have a] lack of moral character to your fans. I pray one day you will understand that life is precious and what may be funny to you is sometimes the heartache, tears and gut-wrenching fear that others have endured when people like you mock what should be a precious moment!”
“I’m so d**n angry about this. Pregnancy isn’t a joke and for someone who lives around women who aren’t able to [get] pregnant and someone who is close with someone who’s experienced miscarriages, this makes me so d**n pissed off that someone with such a big fanbase has done this. Ever think about the women and men you’ve hurt by this joke,” another fan wrote.
Even though a majority of the comments called out the singer, many of Justin Bieber’s loyal fans defended him against the criticism.
“Gosh some people just can’t get a joke,” a fan responded to the backlash, which someone replied, “Well when you struggle with getting pregnant it’s not so funny … Would you think it would be fun if someone made a joke on having, say, like cancer?”
Justin Bieber gave fans an apology
After receiving a ton of backlash on social media, Justin Bieber decided that it was time to set the record straight on his April Fools’ prank.
In an Instagram post, the singer shared a lengthy caption in which he apologized to anyone who was offended by his prank.
Bieber says that he “didn’t at all mean to be insensitive to people who can’t have children,” and that he is known as a prankster.
Though being a jokester doesn’t make up for the fact that he offended a large amount of people, he understands from personal experience just how much a prank can hurt someone.
With all of this backlash, we’re pretty sure Justin Bieber will ease up on pranking the public in the future.
Also, next time he or Hailey Baldwin mention having a baby, we are certain it will be true!
