This ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Favorite Is Coming Back For The Revival

Disney Channel in the early 2000s will forever be remembered fondly by ‘90s babies. One of the seminal classics from that time was Lizzie McGuire. It highlighted the awkward events that occur in most teenaged girls’ lives, while also throwing in outrageous obstacles and relatable characters. It made Hilary Duff a household name, and now it’s back.

While it’s all very exciting, many fans wondered if Lizzie’s two best friends, Gordo and Miranda, would make an appearance. Now one is for sure coming back and it’ll have fans screaming, “this is what dreams are made of.”

The Lizzie McGuire revival is coming to Disney+ and already filming

During the D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA back in August, Disney announced that a revival of Lizzie McGuire is coming to its Disney+ streaming platform. Lizzie will be in her 30s and continuing to inspire women her age and be a relatable piece of TV.

“The conversations have gone on for a couple of years and the timing just didn’t seem right and now Lizzie is turning 30. For me, she was everybody’s best friend and she was there for us … entering your 30s is a really big deal” she told People in August. “I think it’s the right time to set back in and have her go along with you in your 30s and all the fun times, and all of the big monumental moments, and all of the challenges that you’re faced with.”

You’ll see some familiar faces in Lizzie’s household

Duff also shared a photo on Oct. 24 of her Lizzie McGuire family coming together again for the revival Disney+ show. Her mom and dad, played by Hallie Todd and Robert Carradine respectively, along with her annoying kid-brother Matt, played by Jake Thomas, are returning.

Lizzie’s best friend Gordo will be back for the revival too!

There have been many rumors and demands from fans when it comes to who else might return to the show. Now, on Nov. 20, BuzzFeed reported that none other than Gordo is coming back, with Adam Lamberg taking on the role again.

If you needed any further confirmation, Duff posted on her Instagram a photo of the two of them on set with the caption, “I feels so basic saying something that’s been shouted at me almost my whole life buuuut……hey now, hey now.” The official Disney+ account also posted a video of Lamberg and Duff announcing his return.

Will Gordo and Lizzie be in a relationship for the revival?

Judging by the bangs in her recent photos and videos with Lamberg, which she didn’t have at the start of filming, Gordo might be introduced in a flashback. Regardless, in interviews, Duff revealed that Lizzie is engaged and living in New York City and it’s not to Gordo.

When Vulture asked Duff in September if she was devasted by this, she said no. “I feel like them not being together is what was so good … it’s that one person that you’re like, Was he the one? Is it ever going to be? You’re always kind of wondering,” she said. “We wanted it to hurt everyone a little bit, and it’ll continue to hurt.”
