This Simple Tool Helped Jessica Simpson Lose 100 Pounds After Having a Baby

Jessica Simpson wowed fans when she showed off her 100-pound weight loss. The singer and fashion designer “tipped the scales at 240” six months ago, she explained in a recent Instagram post, but since giving birth to her daughter Birdie Mae in March, she’s worked hard to get down to a smaller size. 

“Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder,” she wrote. 

The former Newlyweds star also had some help on her weight loss journey in the form of a personal chef and her long-time personal trainer, who helped her develop a nutrition and fitness plan. 

This device helped Simpson lose weight 

Simpson has worked with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak for a dozen years. And his plan for helping her lose weight was simpler than you might expect. The mom of three had five tasks she was supposed to complete each day: Getting her steps, unplugging from tech for at least an hour, getting adequate sleep, eating healthy, and exercising. 

According to Us Weekly, one tool was crucial in helping Simpson reach her first daily goal of getting enough steps: a pedometer. Pasternak recommends that everyone take at least 10,000 steps every day, though 12,000 is better. A step-counting device like a pedometer makes it easy to tell if you’re reaching that goal.

Pasternak says that he urges his famous clients to be active throughout the day, and not just at the gym. 

“[I]n an effort to get them to be more active between jobs, I would give them a pedometer,” he told Parade in 2016. “The results were fantastic. I put more and more emphasis on moving from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed as opposed to just only in a building designed for exercise.”

Simpson is apparently going above and beyond when it comes to her step goals. A source told Us Weekly that the star is regularly hitting 14,000 steps per day. 

She also followed the Body Reset Diet

In addition to walking and hitting the gym, Simpson also followed an eating plan based on Pasternak’s Body Reset Diet. 

“It’s three meals and two snacks a day, and each meal has protein, fiber and fat, and snacks are protein and fiber or protein and fat,” the trainer explained to People. “She’ll have foods that are very flavorable that are healthier versions of things like a tortilla soup or Tex-Mex.”

The singer confessed she’d been eating a lot of cauliflower as she worked to lose the baby weight. But she didn’t cut out junk food entirely, saying during a recent appearance on HSN that she’d just snacked on a bag of Cheetos. 

To help stay on track, Simpson works with a personal chef. But she’s the one who’s in charge of the menu. 

“She has a personal chef who makes all her meals,” the source told Us. “Jessica makes the decisions on what to have the chef make herself.”
