This ‘You’ Star Hopes Candace Stone Will Get Her Own Show
The first season of You showed Joe (Penn Badgley) stalking Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail.) We found out she isn’t the first victim of being the object of his affection. He previously dated a woman named Candace Stone (Ambyr Childers) who mysteriously disappeared.
Beck tried to get to the bottom of this disappearance. However, season 2 allowed the character to speak for herself revealing what Joe did to her. Find out what Childers said about whether a show centered on Candace would work and more. Warning light spoilers for season 2!
Candace Stone is back in ‘You’ Season 2
Candace surprisingly confronted Joe at the end of the first season. The second season shows her on his tail in Los Angeles in hopes to stop him from hurting someone else.
“She’s the anomaly of Joe’s victims because she got away, she survived,” Childers told Us Weekly. “She knows him so well and is definitely seeking some kind of revenge, or at least attempting to prevent this from happening to another unsuspecting woman.”
This is a good thing since Joe becomes obsessed with Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) in season 2. That scheme includes Candace starting a new relationship, but it’s not at all what it seems.
“Candace doesn’t have time to fall in love, she’s focused,” explained the actress. “But she’ll do whatever she has to do to get to Joe, even if it means doing something uncomfortable, like getting close to Joe’s new love interest.”
Ambyr Childers hopes Candace will get her own show
There are still a lot of things we don’t know about Candace at the end of season 2. What was life like for her having to pretend she’s dead before she comes across Joe again? How did she track him down? Childers thinks there is enough there to do a whole show about her.
“That’s funny you say that because I was thinking, ‘God, that would be…’ Candace having her own show, that would be so interesting because if Joe continues to do this with other people that she knew or if she helped other women,” she said according to ET.
Season 3 might already be in the works
Childers might be hoping for a spinoff, but will there be a third season of the show? Badgley might have accidentally revealed that the answer is yes.
He talked to Entertainment Tonight about the new character, Love. “She doesn’t appear to be the same kind of person,” teased Badgley. The actor said, “She doesn’t appear to be the same kind of predator.”
Badgley then said, “She doesn’t appear to be the same kind of… you know, dare I say, in the third season – oh, god!” Sadly, he wouldn’t confirm that there will be another season. “Technically I can’t… I mean, like, unofficially?” he said.
This might not be a complete surprise given the series is based on the novel series written by Caroline Kepnes. There is a third book following Joe’s life trying to live like a family man.
Fans of the show could probably guess his compulsions to stalk and murder would probably ruin that. However, they will have to wait for an official confirmation that there will be a third season.
