On Oct. 29, Portman made a virtual appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Clarkson asked about Thor: Love and Thunder, and the two discussed details about the movie.

“So do you get all of Thor’s powers is my real question,” Clarkson said. “Like I’m a huge nerd for Avengers, any kind of superhero, like I’ve seen them all. So do you get powers is my question?”

Portman replied, “Uh, so she does have powers. It’s not exactly the same as Thor. It’s her own, her own version of it. And she’s called the Mighty Thor.”

“Oh my gosh, what a cool character to play,” Clarkson said. “So who is your personal favorite superhero or favorite superpower?”

“Well, you know, I have to say Thor I think as the greatest superhero,” said Portman. “But of course I mean I’m so excited that, you know, we’re gonna have a Black Widow movie, and Captain Marvel of course, and all the women of Black Panther.”

Why Natalie Portman thinks women as superheroes are important

While on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Portman pointed out that it is important for children to see women as superheroes.

“I know I think it’s really important what you just said too, because I don’t know I feel like when we were kids, there wasn’t as much representation for girls,” said Clarkson. “It’s kind of cool because not only my little boy has all these like boy heroes to look up to but also female ones.”

Portman agreed, saying, “Yeah, that’s totally true I mean, I think people usually say how great it is for the girls, but it’s really important for the boys, you know? For boys to get to see women in those kinds of characters and in those kinds of personalities. It just expands opportunity for how we all see each other.”

What we know about ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

Thor: Love and Thunder was officially announced at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. Writer and director Taika Waititi, who previously wrote and directed Thor: Ragnarok, revealed that Portman would return as Jane Foster.

While speaking with BBC, Waititi gave more details about the script for Thor: Love and Thunder.

“I think it’s going to be really good. We’ve been writing the script off and on for a year and I’m just, actually this week, doing another pass on it,” he said. “It is so insane and it’s also very romantic. I’m into romances now. I want to make romance. I want to make something that I’ve never done or cared for. I would like to attack something like that.”

Right now, Thor: Love and Thunder is slated to be released on Feb. 11, 2020. The movie will star Portman, Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Christian Bale.
