Marvel announces ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

Over the summer, Marvel released a slew of titles for Phase 4 of the MCU. Among the projects slated to hit theaters over the next two years, the studio revealed that Hemsworth will be getting another stand-alone movie as Thor.

Marvel also confirmed that Portman will be returning to reprise her role as Jane Foster. Portman is expected to become the next Thor in the film, though the studio has not revealed exactly how that is going to work out.

In fact, Marvel has been very tight-lipped about released plot details for Love and Thunder. But with the movie slated to open in theaters in 2021, filming is expected to begin in a few months. Once production gets underway, we should learn more.

While we wait for official word, fans are convinced that Bale will be introduced in Thor: Love and Thunder and will be playing a villain who will give Thor a run for his money.

Is Bale playing a villain in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’?

According to We Got This Covered, inside sources claim that Bale will be playing an “intergalactic villain” in the movie who is characterized as being “otherworldly.”

Fans were originally hoping that the British actor would appear as Beta Ray Bill in the movie, but the character does not fit the bill as a villain.

There has also been speculation that Bale will appear as Dario Agger, an antagonist in the Mighty Thor storyline from the comics. The only problem with this theory is that Agger is from Earth. Sure, he can morph into a minotaur, but he’s definitely not an intergalactic being.

There is one theory that matches the insider’s information. Some Thor fans have speculated that Bale has been tapped to play the part of Gorr the God Butcher. In the comics, Gorr goes around hunting down gods throughout the universe, and Thor his one of his biggest targets.

We cannot say for sure if Bale will be playing Gorr, but it definitely sounds like something that could make Thor: Love and Thunder interesting.

Who is Gorr the God Butcher?

Gorr the God Butcher is directly linked to Thor in the comics. The villain was raised on a planet that has no name and was taught to put all of his trust in gods. But after his gods failed to answer his prayers, Gorr turned his back on them and vowed to kill them all.

The character has not been mentioned at any point in the MCU, so the door is definitely open for Bale to take him on.

Some fans have even created some art that shows what Bale might look like as Gorr the God Butcher. We have to admit, Bale would definitely be a good addition to Phase 4 of the MCU.

Marvel, of course, has kept quiet about Bale’s casting, but fans are obviously excited about the rumors.

Is Bale going to join the MCU?

Director Taika Waititi is expected to begin filming Thor: Love and Thunder this summer. That means casting for the project is well underway and it is possible that Bale has already committed to the project.

If Bale does join the MCU, this will be his first appearance in a superhero film since The Dark Knight Rises in 2012.

Until we learn more, Bale recently appeared in the critically acclaimed film, Ford v Ferrari, which has made over $200 at the box office.

The actor won an Oscar for his part in The Fighter. He was also nominated for his role in American Hustle, Vice, and The Big Short and would be a great asset to the studio.

Thor: Love and Thunder is due to open in theaters on November 5, 2021.
