Inside T.I. and His Daughter Deyjah Harris’ Relationship Today
It looks like this father/daughter bond could be fractured forever. Though Atlanta-born rapper T.I. and his 18-year-old daughter, Deyjah Harris used to be extremely close, it appears that recent events between the two have led to a strained relationship.
On T.I’s show, T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle — which ran from 2011 to 2016, we watched Deyjah grow up from a young girl to a beautiful young lady. Despite his own legal and marital troubles, T.I. appeared to be a doting father, caring for all seven of his children from various relationships with love and care.
Though we didn’t always agree with the ATL actor’s parenting tactics –the never seemed hurtful or invasive until now. It appears that T.I.’s most recent actions with his daughter Dejah Harris may have cost him their relationship.
T.I. revealed that he attends Deyjah Harris’ yearly OBGYN appointments and gets her hymen checked
The internet was horrified last week when the rapper/actor revealed that he forces his daughter to get a “virginity test” every single year. On a now-deleted episode of Ladies Like Us podcast called “Life Hacks,” he said,
Deyjah’s just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself. And yes, not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen.
The backlash for T.I. was swift. Not only is this a gross (and possibly illegal) invasion of his daughter’s privacy — blasting private details about her body and her sexual life are beyond horrific.
Deyjah Harris is humiliated by T.I’s virginity test
Though she has not said anything publically with regards to her father detailing her personal information across the globe or his humiliating test — Harris did give us some hints about how she’s dealing with all of this. Shortly after the podcast episode aired, and people quickly came to her defense, she tweeted, “I loveeeeeee yalllllll” with a sad face emoji.
Additionally, Harris liked several tweets calling T.I.’s behavior “disgusting” and “possessive.” Worse still, T.I.’s public revelations about her daughter has garnered a slew of predatory men making derogatory comments towards her on her social media pages.
T.I. has not apologized for his actions
The hosts of Ladies Like Us — Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham have issued an apology and deleted the podcast episode saying in part, “The comments that were made and the reaction that followed are not in any way a reflection of our personal views on the topic. We support and love Women and feel that their bodies are theirs to do as they wish. There was absolutely no ill intent towards any party involved & feel deeply awful about the entire incident.”
Unfortunately, T.I. has remained steadfast in behavior. Other misogynists have come to his defense and it seems unlikely that he will ever apologize.
T.I. and Deyjah Harris’ relationship is now strained
We don’t know if the father/daughter duo has had a conversation in private, but it appears that Harris is now distancing herself from her father as much as possible. Fans have discovered that Harris has unfollowed both her father and her stepmother, Tiny Harris, on Instagram.
Hopefully, this will get the rapper’s attention before he loses his daughter completely. You do not own women, not even your daughters.
