‘Today Show’ Co-Hosts Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie Reunite and Fans Are Loving It

Most of the Today Show team have been reporting from home due to the coronavirus crisis. Co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker were some of the first to take to their home studios to comply with best social distancing practices.

Away from the NBC News set for months, Guthrie and Roker were recently spotted together on location and shared their mini reunion on Instagram.

Savannah Guthrie sets up home studio

When lockdown restrictions began in March, Guthrie had self-quarantined when a colleague had contracted COVID-19. After a brief return to the studio, the Today anchor decided to hunker down back at home in order to play it safe.

“My family’s upstate, and so I’m sticking close to the family and coming to the city less and less,” Guthrie reported from her basement studio to co-host Hoda Kotb in April, according to Popculture. “So I’m trying to work from home, and also frankly that’s what these officials are telling us to do, so that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.”

Manning the news desk from her house in upstate New York while in quarantine with husband Michael Feldman and their two kids – Vale, 5, and Charley, 3 – the Today star focuses on delivering accurate information to the public during such a critical time.

“I try really hard to count my blessings and recognize how lucky I am to have a job and that my family is safe,” Guthrie told the the New York Post in April. “I wake up and feel the weight of responsibility at a time when the country is in crisis. I try to think that I’m on the side of information, so that our viewers have the best possible information.”

Al Roker reports from his neck of the woods

Fan favorite Al Roker has been working from home since March to comply with quarantine restrictions. On lockdown with wife and fellow journalist Deborah Roberts and their son Nick, Roker gave a shout out to his crew in helping him set up his makeshift studio.

“Part of the team getting yours truly on the air with @todayshow weather @3rdhourtoday,” the Today star posted on Instagram. “Thanks to Don Tshounikas in his home, @kathrynprociv is in @30rockefellerplaza and @brianvanaken at home.”

The NBC co-host explained that his new location was to honor the guidelines in place for the benefit of his colleagues and family. “I am on my iPad so NO @nbcnews crew is with me as I hang at home out of an abundance of caution following a brief interaction with one of our producers who tested positive,” Roker revealed.

‘Today Show’ co-hosts together again

Reporting on location from Hudson Valley, NY on June 23, Roker and Guthrie were together again for the first time in months.

“Here’s the fun right here, will you believe this: Al Roker! We have been reunited,” Guthrie told Kotb, who was manning the fort at Studio 1A in New York City, according to Yahoo. The Today star pointed out that she and Roker were maintaining social distance for safety. “We did the air hug [and] we’re air kissing.”
