‘Today Show:’ Who is Dylan Dreyer’s Husband?

Dylan Dreyer, meteorologist and co-host of the Today Show and Today’s Third Hour, announced in the summer that she’s expecting her second child with husband Brian Fichera. Dreyer often speaks lovingly of her husband of seven years, and how they are both looking forward to their son Calvin, 2 ½, becoming a big brother.

Both Dreyer and Fichera are both in the broadcasting field. The NBC meteorologist met her future hubby when they worked together at a local television station in Boston.

Studio romance

In 2007, Dreyer anchored the news at WHDH in Boston during the morning shift, and got to know Fichera, who was a camera man on the broadcast. Fichera was interested in the meteorologist, though she kept calling him ‘Tom.’ The mistaken identity soon became an inside joke between the two, and their friendship started to turn into something more.

“When he started working more, he’d hang out more in the Weather Center with our friend Todd. The three of us starting hanging out more and more outside of work, building our friendship and getting closer,” Dreyer said, according to Good Housekeeping. “After a few years, we had a small party at Brian’s house which we dubbed the Jammy Jam. It was then that I realized I had totally fallen for him and from there it was history!”

Engagement, marriage, baby

The two got engaged in July 2011, where Fichera proposed to Dreyer on the porch of his parents’ house. “When I saw there were roses and two glasses of Champagne, I knew,” she told Boston.com.

The couple tied the knot in October 2012 in Boston, just as Dreyer was joining the weekend edition of Today. They relocated from their house in Boston to a much smaller 750 square foot apartment in New York City. “I never in a million years thought I could downgrade to 750 square feet,” she said about their new home, as reported by Good Housekeeping. “Not to mention, share it with someone else.”

Dreyer announced she was expecting the couple’s first child in 2016, and raved about Fichera’s support. “My husband kind of just sits back and reminds me, he’s like, ‘This baby is a piece of both of us … Everything we love about each other, and all the times we enjoy together, we’ve created this wonderful life that is going to be a piece of both of us and it’s going to become part of our lives,'” she gushed. “He’s amazing. He’s very supportive, and every time I do get scared, he brings me back to reality.” Their son Calvin was born in December 2016.

The couple recently celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary and posted a pic to commemorate the event. “Toasting to our 7th Anniversary!! @fishlense the joy you bring me is indescribable…thank you for being you and all you do. I love you!” she captioned the photo on Instagram.

Recent struggle

The couple’s anniversary was especially joyous in light of their newest family member that’s due in January. Earlier this year, Dreyer shared she and her husband were struggling with secondary infertility, which affects about 3 million women in the United States, according to Today. The condition is when you have one or more biological children but then struggle to conceive again. The Today Show co-host had also suffered a miscarriage, adding to their sadness.

Dreyer chose to share her personal story in the hopes of helping other women going through the same thing. “This is something you need more awareness of. There’s this guilt that you have for wanting a second child when I have friends of my own who couldn’t have a single child. So here I am being ‘selfish’ that I want to have a second child and it’s like, no, that is not the case. This is our world,” she said. “My sadness doesn’t take away from anyone else’s happiness, and my sadness isn’t minimized because someone else has a sadder situation.” she said.

Dreyer was about to start in vitro fertilization preparation while she was covering the Kentucky Derby for Today when she received wonderful news from her doctor. “The day I was going to start my IVF, I had all my medicines, I brought it down to the Kentucky Derby with me, and the doctor calls and says, ‘Don’t take anything. You’re pregnant!’” she revealed.

Now, expecting another baby boy, Dreyer is looking forward to watching Calvin with his new sibling. “[The baby] continues to grow healthy and strong each day. I’m so excited for Calvin to have a little [sibling],” she said. “He sort of understands what’s going on but when you ask him about the baby, he says he wants to pet it. So we’ll see!”

Happy belated anniversary to the happy couple!
