Tom Holland Says He Broke His Nose Filming Movie ‘Chaos Walking’

Actor Tom Holland says that he broke his nose on a movie yet again.

The 21-year-old Spider-Man: Homecoming star tweeted late on Wednesday that the injury occurred on the set of the movie Chaos Walking, and he noted that this is not the first time this has happened.

The first time was on the set of the 2016 film The Lost City of Z, which Holland filmed between Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming. But it wasn’t as part of any stunt. As Holland explained at the New York Film Festival, the movie’s director, James Gray, saw a video of Holland doing a backflip and claimed that Holland could not actually perform the trick. Gray challenged Holland to do one right there, and although Gray says that he was joking, Holland still obliged.

“So I stood up, I had these stupid leather boots on, I tried to do a backflip, and just broke my face,” Holland said. “I’ve been a gymnast since I was a little kid. It’s been years since I haven’t really landed one, and I remember hitting my face on the floor and going, ‘Shit! That didn’t happen.’”

Holland went on to say that a medic realigned his nose as blood was pouring out. He still ended up shooting the scene he was there to film, but he was sent to a hospital afterwards. While speaking at the New York Film Festival, Holland suggested that he was “in trouble” with Marvel Studios afterwards, and they were asking him what happened to his face.

Holland also injured himself on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, telling The Hollywood Reporter that after a day of stunts, he fell down the stairs and tore his ACL.

It’s not yet known how the new injury ocurred. Holland will likely be getting questions from Marvel Studios again, as the untitled fourth Avengers film, in which Holland plays Spider-Man, is currently in production. Chaos Walking, a Doug Liman action-thriller starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley, is expected to remain in production until November, and it will hit theaters in March 2019.
