Is Tom Holland Working On A TV Series?
Actor Tom Holland is best known as one of the stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Before he landed the coveted role of Spider-Man, Holland appeared in films such as How I Live Now and In the Heart of the Sea. Now that there’s an issue with Sony and Marvel, could Holland be switching his focus to TV? Let’s find out.
Playing Spider-Man made Holland a bonafide movie star
Holland skyrocketed to fame when he was cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He first played the character in Captain America: Civil War, and then went on to play the character four more times: In Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home (both 2019). And Holland is very proud of that role, especially in the case of the latest movie.
“I’d have to say Spider-Man: Far From Home. I think that’s my best work [to date],” said Holland. “I’ve grown a lot as an actor through the years and I’ve played lots of different types of roles. But Spider-Man: Far From Home was the first time I got to play a character who was exploring so many different crazy things. So I’d have to say that’s my best work that I’m most proud of.”
He hasn’t spent much time on the small screen
Holland didn’t get his start on TV like many actors — instead, he comes from a theater background. He was cast in a West End production of Billy Elliot after he was seen in a dancing class. Holland then appeared in films such as The Impossible and Locke before he was cast as Peter Parker.
In fact, the actor has only had one TV role to date. He had a recurring role in the UK series Wolf Hall in 2015, just before he became known as Spider-Man. His only other TV appearance aside from interviews was his beloved Lip Sync Battle performance in 2017.
Does Tom Holland have a TV series in the works?
Is Holland heading back to the small screen? It’s hard to say, but in a recent GQ “Actually Me” interview, he went undercover on Instagram — and his answer to one fan’s query made us suspicious of what he has planned.
The person in question said that they hoped Holland would get his own TV series sometime in the future, saying, “that would be AMAZING.” The actor slyly replied, “Well, you might not have to wait that long…” closing his comment with a winking emoji. However, his IMDb doesn’t indicate that there’s anything he can talk about yet.
A look at his upcoming projects
Holland has a lot of work in the pipeline. He voiced one of the main characters in the upcoming animated film Spies in Disguise, and also provided vocals for Jip in The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle and Onward, both of which are due out in 2020.
The actor also has plenty of live-action projects in the works. There’s psychological thriller The Devil All the Time, which reunites him with Marvel actor Sebastian Stan; sci-fi adventure Chaos Walking, which could be the first of three if all goes well; and Cherry, which is being directed by Avengers: Endgame’s Joe and Anthony Russo.
