Tupac Shakur Arrested! (No, Not That Tupac)

Tupac Shakur died in 1996 so any headline about what he’s doing in 2019 would have to be a misprint right? Conspiracy theorists who don’t believe he’s dead would argue against that but in this case of Tupac A. Shakur being arrested in Tennessee, there is a logical explanation.

Tupac A. Shakur arrested in Tennessee

For all those who are convinced the “Dear Mama” artist is laying low in Cuba, there is another Tupac who is not keeping such a low profile in Tennessee.

On Oct. 19, police in Johnson City arrested Tupac A. Shakur on assault and drug charges. The person now being held in the Washington County Detention Center is a 40-year-old white male who has no relation to the late rapper but does share the same first name, last name, and middle initial.

According to the arrest report, the man taken into custody had outstanding warrants and pulled a blade on officers when they tried to apprehend him. Authorities allege that when they searched him they found a syringe and baggies of methamphetamine.

Because of his name, this arrest has made headlines around the world and brought up all those conspiracies about if the hip-hop icon faked his own death and is still alive.

On Sept. 7, 1996, Tupac attended the Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon boxing match at the MGM Grand Casino with then-Death Row Records head Suge Knight.

Later that night, Pac was involved in a brawl with Compton Crip member Orlando Anderson. The incident, which was captured on MGM’s surveillance footage, was broken up by the casino’s security and all of the parties involved left the scene following the scuffle.

Tupac and Knight headed to a nightclub but as they sat in Knight’s car at a red light on East Flamingo Road a white Cadillac pulled up next to them and fired several shots into the vehicle. Tupac was hit in his chest, arm, and leg and taken University Medical Center of Southern Nevada where he died six days later. He was 25 years old.

When the news of his death broke, it was hard for many fans to take. Pac was not only an established star in the rap game but was really starting to make a name for himself as an actor as well. While many mourned his loss, others pointed to reasons that he could be alive.

There have been a number of reported “sightings” of Tupac over the years by many different people even other celebrities. Kim Kardashian thought she spotted him in 2012. The reality star sent the internet into a frenzy when she shared a picture of someone who resembled the hip-hop artist.

There have also been many theories thrown out there recently including one in 2018 from Knight’s son, Taj, who claimed Tupac was alive and well living in Malaysia. He even shared photos supposedly of Pac posing with 50 Cent and Beyoncé. Taj later backed off his claims and told Los Angeles’ Real 92.3 radio station that he believes Tupac is deceased.
