A Look Back at the Times Prince William and Kate Middleton Actually Showed PDA
Prince William and Kate Middleton aren’t the touchiest of couples, even for the royal family. But when they do make contact in public, we can’t help but swoon. Here’s a look back at all the times Prince William and Kate Middleton showed some PDA.
1. The famous Buckingham Palace kiss
It all started with the couple’s first kiss as a married couple on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the world to see. The couple excitedly took in the crowd and gave each other a bashful smooch (even in the beginning, the royal couple wasn’t particularly keen on big displays of affection).

2. Things got cozy at Dalvay-by-the-Sea
During the 2011 dragon boat race at Dalvay-by-the-Sea, William pulled Middleton in close for a sweet hug. The two were pitted against each other (William as a rower and Middleton was in charge of steering her boat) in a race to the finish line. William’s boat won, but by the looks of the hug afterwards, there weren’t any sore feelings.

3. When they celebrated at the London Summer Games
When the couple attended the London Summer Games back in 2012, they couldn’t help but celebrate a win for Great Britain in the Track Cycling event with an excited hug.
“Both in official Team GB gear, the spouses of 15 months jumped up, cheered and — in a rare moment of unabashed affection — hugged tightly amidst other excited fans in the stands,” reported Us Weekly.
Next: The couple only rarely make this gesture publicly.
4. Holding hands around the grounds
Shortly after their wedding, the couple was seen walking hand-in-hand around the grounds of Buckingham Palace.
“Prince William and Kate Middleton were beaming as they stepped out of Buckingham Palace this morning, headed on a romantic weekend away,” reported Pop Sugar.

5. Middleton gives William a kiss on the cheek
Prince William, along with his brother Harry, participated in the Audi Polo Challenge in Santa Barbara, California back in 2012. The boys aren’t strangers to the game of polo and proved to be worthy opponents.
After a rousing polo match, the duchess gave her husband a congratulatory kiss on the cheek.

6. The couple sweetly held hands at the 2014 Commonwealth Games
The couple held hands while watching a swimming competition at the Tollcross Swimming Centre during the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Additionally, the event took place on a hot July day, and Prince William used Middleton’s name tag as a fan to keep her cool.

7. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could be changing royal PDA etiquette
When Markle and Prince Harry debuted their engagement announcement, the world was excited to see their casual, laid-back love for each other. The two cuddled into each other and held hands before the microphones were turned on.
They seem to be a little bit looser with their PDA than Middleton and William. Perhaps Markle and Harry’s relationship will inspire a few more displays of affection from their royal in-laws.
