‘NCIS’: Is Mark Harmon the Highest-Paid Actor on TV Now?

Mark Harmon has enjoyed not only a long tenure on NCIS but also a long career in general. That being the case, it is not hard to guess that he is the highest-paid actor on the show by about four country miles.

He’s not the highest-paid actor on TV — that particular distinction belongs to a performer whose show only recently ended for good. Now that this other actor is out of the picture, Harmon’s rank will kick up a few notches. Here’s how Harmon rates, alongside his current and former castmates, and alongside his fellow TV performers.

Harmon easily tops the show actors’ net worth ranking (based on 2016 figures cited by Fame 10) with no less than $60 million. Having been everywhere from St. Elsewhere to  Wyatt Earp to Charlie Grace to Chicago Hope and The West Wing, Harmon’s longevity has paid major dividends. He even played Ted Bundy in a TV movie before Netflix’s Ted Bundy, Zac Efron, was even born. Harmon reportedly makes $525,000 per episode on NCIS.

How Mark Harmon ranks on ‘NCIS’

Coming in a fairly distant second is Pauley Perrette with a net worth of $16 million, having made $175,000 per episode. In a close third place is Lauren Holly, whose net worth is $15 million, based on her lengthy resume that includes TV shows like Hill Street Blues and Picket Fences and movies such as Dumb and Dumber and the 2000 film What Women Want.

Basically tying Perrette is Michael Weatherly, with $15 million. He jumped ship to Bull in 2016. He had been making $250,000 per NCIS episode. Next is David McCallum, one of only a handful of actors to have stayed with the entire run of NCIS so far. He has a net worth of $10 million. Rounding out the top six is Sean Murray, with a net worth of $8 million.

In seventh place is the ever-elusive Ziva, Cote de Pablo, with a net worth of $6 million. Depending upon how long it lasts, her dramatic return could push her number higher. Just behind her is Sasha Alexander, whose relatively short run on the show contributed to her net worth of $4 million.

Tying her is  Leon Vance, also known as Rocky Carroll, with a net worth of $4 million. Behind him is as Emily Wickersham’s Ellie, who initially discovered Ziva’s note that she was in hiding. She has a net worth of $2 million.

How Mark Harmon rates among all TV performers

Harmon’s standing is a little lower among all TV actors, if only because up until this season, he has had to contend with the cast of The Big Bang Theory.

According to a ranking by Forbes, Jim Parsons tops the list with $26.5 million in 2018 earnings. It’s no small wonder that when Parsons said it was time for Big Bang Theory to end, it ended.

The other guys on Big Bang Theory fill out the top four. Johnny Galecki made $25 million, while Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar made $23.5 million each. So Harmon’s $19 million makes him number one in a different sense: He’s the top paid TV actor that is not on The Big Bang Theory.

Going down the list, Modern Family begins to monopolize. Ed O’Neill made $14 million, Eric Stonestreet $13.5 million, Jesse Tyler Ferguson $13 million and Ty Burrell $12 million. Finally, as zombies do, Andrew Lincoln of The Walking Dead brings up the rear with $11 million.

If you add in females to the mix, the picture changes again. Harmon comes in seventh on that list, just ahead of Burrell and just behind Nayyar. The highest paid performer of either gender is Sofia Vergara of Modern Family, with  $41.5 million. Parsons is just behind her, while Kaley Cuoco finds herself sandwiched between Galecki and Helberg with her $26 million.
