Undeniable Proof Kylie Jenner Gets Unfairly Criticized
Kylie Jenner is one of the most successful young women in the world. She rose to fame on her family’s reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and parlayed her success into creating her very own company: Kylie Cosmetics.
The billion-dollar cosmetics company has elevated Jenner’s status, and these days, she’s arguably the most successful member of the Kardashian/Jenner family. Still, she experiences a good deal of online bullying, and almost every one of Jenner’s posts has a lot of comments from people with negative things to say.
This was especially evident on Halloween, when Jenner dressed up her daughter, Stormi, in a tiny version of her Met Gala outfit.
Kylie Jenner has been mom-shamed in the past
Jenner gave birth to her daughter, Stormi Webster, in February 2018, when she was only 21 years old. Jenner kept her pregnancy a secret from the public and press, only revealing the happy news after she had Stormi.
Jenner offered an explanation to her fans as to why she kept the pregnancy secret, saying that she wanted to try to give her daughter the healthiest and best possible start in life. In spite of that mature decision, Jenner has been mom-shamed quite frequently during the course of the past year and a half.
Much of the hate that Jenner receives online seems to stem from the fact that she became a mother at a young age. Clearly, Jenner has the financial means to take care of herself and her baby, but many people still seem to have a problem with her age.
She has gotten mom-shamed for participating in activities without taking Stormi with her, even though Jenner keeps Stormi with her the vast majority of the time, even creating her own little space at the Kylie Cosmetics office. Jenner has even been mom-shamed for keeping long fingernails, proving that no matter what she does, people will find an issue with it.
Why did people criticize Kylie Jenner for her daughter’s Halloween costume?
It’s no secret that the Kardashian/Jenner family tends to go all out for holidays, and Halloween is no exception. For Halloween 2019, Jenner pulled out all the stops and dressed up her daughter in an exact replica of her purple 2019 Met Gala gown — long purple wig and all. Although Stormi was undoubtedly adorable in the costume, Jenner’s post received an onslaught of negative comments.
Many commenters called Jenner “narcissistic” for dressing Stormi up as herself, saying that the toddler might have preferred to dress up as a cartoon character or a princess. While a number of celebrities commented as well, raving about how adorable Stormi looked, the vast majority of comments were overwhelmingly negative.
Kylie Jenner gets more criticism than many other celebrities
The interesting thing about people’s reactions to Stormi Webster’s Halloween costume is the fact that Jenner wasn’t the only celebrity this Halloween to dress up their child as a miniature version of themselves.
In fact, Gabrielle Union twinned with her daughter on Halloween, dressing up in her costume from Bring It On, and providing a smaller version of the costume for her toddler child. She received a lot of positive comments for the costumes, with no real shaming from critics.
It’s clear that Kylie Jenner is still very susceptible to hatred from the online community. She is certainly being held to a different standard than other celebs, whether it is because people tend to have negative opinions about the Kardashian/Jenner family or because of her outrageous wealth. While it is not totally fair that she gets such criticism, especially considering she seems to be a very devoted mother, she probably has the ability to compartmentalize the negativity and continue with her life in spite of it.
