Rey might turn to the dark side during ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’

Perhaps the most exciting piece of information Disney shared at their Expo was about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The studio played a clip of the film, in which Rey holds a double-edged red lightsaber. When news broke that Rey might turn to the dark side, fans went crazy online.

To be fair, there a few different theories floating around about dark side-Rey. Some think that this scene is a part of Kylo’s vision from The Last Jedi, in which Rey is “the one to turn.” Others believe this will be a scene similar to the one in Empire Strikes Back, where Luke thinks he’s fighting Darth Vader, but he’s fighting himself. Another theory is that Rey is related to Emporer Palpatine. Fans will just have to wait until December to find out the truth.

The Walt Disney Company launches their streaming service, Disney Plus, on Nov. 12, 2019. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres in the United States on Dec. 20, 2019.
