Valerie Bertinelli’s new memoir is a work in progress

While it doesn’t have a title or exact layout just yet, Valerie Bertinelli’s upcoming memoir is happening – even if for now it’s only in the idea stage.

As she shared with The Boca Raton Observer in Sept. 2020, she’s visualizing this work with a focus on her nearly five decades in the entertainment industry, as well as on what it’s been like to hit a new milestone: 60.

“I’ll be sharing some of the wisdom that I’ve learned along the way,” she said. “But there will definitely be recipes in there. Right now, I’m on a chicken thigh kick – experimenting with all kinds of flavor combinations like olives, tequila, lime, mushrooms and garlic – whatever moves me.”

While there isn’t a publication date set yet for her coming memoir, which may be a “cookoir,” a little memoiring and a little recipe-sharing, it will be very welcomed by her fans.

She has written other memoirs in the past

Bertinelli’s intended memoir won’t be her first.

The One Day At A Time star has published two previous memoirs: Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time in 2008 and then in 2009, she followed that publication up with Finding It: And Satisfying My Hunger for Life without Opening the Fridge.

Both of her previous books focused on her struggle to make peace with food and to allow it to exist as fuel only in her life, and not as an emotional crutch. Her upcoming book seems to also adopt this reflective view on food, but now informed by the wisdom she has acquired through her life and especially in the last few years.

Her latest work will also surely reflect her pre-pandemic appearances on Today. On the morning show, she honestly laid bare her struggles with her weight and her determination to not so much lose the weight as to settle the battle between her negative body image and unhealthy ties to food.

Bertinelli will soon resume filming ‘Valerie’s Home Cooking’

After taking a break from the ongoing pandemic, Valerie’s Home Cooking, the television personality’s popular Food Network show, will once again be filming in January 2021. Now in its 12th season, the program has become a fixture on the food channel.

Bertinelli is also the host of the network’s high-rated Kids Baking Championship. The worst part about serving as judge on the show for the mother of one? That would be eliminating contestants, any of them.

“Horrible! They were all so sweet and they all tried so hard, but what I loved about it, too, is that the way the world works is not everybody can win. So you do your best, you try your best, you give it your all, and if you still don’t make it, it’s OK. You can try harder next time and for anything else. And, if anything, take the criticism and the comments just to help to make yourself better next time.”
