‘Vanderpump Rules’: Did Lisa Vanderpump’s Restaurant Villa Blanca Really Close?

Rumors have been circulating that Lisa Vanderpump’s flagship restaurant Villa Blanca, featured briefly on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules, has closed.

Photos of the restaurant receiving a deep cleaning may have gotten the rumor mill churning, but also some gossip blogs insist they have reliable sources who claim the restaurant has permanently closed.

Dining establishments throughout the country went dark as a pandemic raged. However, many remained open for curbside or takeout service. Recently, some restaurants in Los Angeles opened for outdoor dining only. Restaurants deal with a moving target as some states opened indoor seating, only to pull back when COVID-19 cases increased. Currently, Villa Blanca is listed as “closed” and is possibly offering fare via Postmates. But has the restaurant really closed for good?

No comments from the restaurant

Showbiz Cheat Sheet reached out to Villa Blanca but no one from the restaurant responded to the inquiry about the restaurant’s status. Villa Blanca made a statement early in the pandemic when most restaurants shuttered.

“It saddens us to have to do this, but with the advisement of the government and local authorities, we have closed our restaurants until further notice. These are scary times right now, but nothing is more important than the health and safety of our employees and guests. We encourage everyone to social distance themselves, to allow our community to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and we hope everyone does their utmost to fight this. Together we will get through this and come out stronger on the other side. Keep following us for updates and we hope we can welcome you back again soon.”

In early June, The Sun reported that Villa Blanca underwent a “deep cleaning and minor refurbishments” in lieu of permanently closing. An unnamed source told The Sun that the changes had nothing to do with the controversy surrounding the firings on Vanderpump Rules.

Some fans are skeptical of the rumors

Fans on a Reddit thread seem split on whether or not the rumors are true. Some didn’t trust the rumor sources. Others remarked that because the country is still in a pandemic, it is hard to make hard assumptions.

“I live right next to Tom Tom, Sur and Pump (they’re all within one block of each other),” one person shared. “They’ve been closed since the quarantine started. Most restaurants in the neighborhood soon started curbside service but these places remained closed. And they didn’t open when LA County allowed them to. I drove by Pump today and it’s still boarded up – initially done back in May when the protests where happening. Limited service is allowed now… but they’re all still closed.”

Vanderpump’s other high profile restaurant, TomTom posted a statement similar to Villa Blanca on the company’s Instagram page. However, SUR, the restaurant where most of the filming occurred, is still running a gift card offer on the homepage. In late June, SUR posted on Instagram, “Make your reservation for July… we are coming back …”
