‘Vanderpump Rules’: Is the Cast Actually as Close as They Seem on TV?
The premise of the show is that the cast is a group of beautiful L.A. residents who work for Lisa Vanderpump at SUR. But even more than being coworkers, the cast is supposedly actually friends.
Most of the drama on the show revolves around the friendships that have been formed between cast mates, but given the ridiculous amount of fights that happen between them, it leads you to wonder whether these people are actually friends or whether it’s all for the cameras.
Is the cast of ‘Vanderpump Rules’ close?
Most people don’t work with their best friends or have a television show with them, but the cast of Vanderpump Rules does. And according to them, their constant fighting doesn’t lessen the reality of their friendships.
Besides, they always make up within an episode or two.
“I think a lot of that has to do with the situation that we’re in,” Tom Sandoval told Page Six. “Normally when you have a falling out with friends you usually come back around — maybe you don’t — but a lot of times there’s a distance … but with us, we’re in a situation where we’re around each other. We’re involved in each other’s lives.”
The group may disagree constantly, but the friendships are real and deep.
“I feel like we’re constantly evolving and then devolving and then trying to evolve again and then evolving even further. Really,” Tom Schwartz told the outlet. “The waters run deep with this group. We have so much history together, so much love — sometimes hate — but almost always love prevails.”
Does the cast of ‘Vanderpump Rules’ actually hang out in real life?
The cast doesn’t just work together, they also like to live close to one another. Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval recently bought a $2 million home. Not to be outdone, Tom Schwartz and his wife Katie Maloney-Schwartz also bought a house.
In preparation for marriage, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright also bought a home together, and now even Kristen Doute has purchased a new residence.
And the real kicker? All of their homes are super close to one another.
“It’s like maybe a two-minute drive,” Maloney-Schwartz said of the distance between her and Sandoval and Madix’s homes on the Vanderpump Rules reunion.
“Like a mile,” Madix added.
And Cartwright and Taylor are close as well.
“It’s not like Tom and Tom are gonna get a house and Jax isn’t, yeah right!” Cartwright said.
“We’re gonna be in a little triangle,” she continued.
And Doute is just five blocks from Schwartz and Maloney-Schwartz.
Does the cast of the show really work at SUR?
Now that the members of the cast are out buying $2 million homes, you might be wondering if any of them actually still work at SUR. They certainly don’t need the money.
But Lisa Vanderpump requires the cast to work at the restaurant.
“Part of the deal is if they’re working at the restaurant on the show, they have to work there legitimately,” the Real Housewives star told Thrillist.
“They work about three days a week while we’re filming, and that’s five months of the year. They get a month or two off to do press and appearances promoting the show while it’s airing, because they do a lot of promotion.”
