‘Vikings’ Season 6: The Final Season Gets a Premiere Date and a New Trailer
Vikings fans, there’s exciting news. History has finally released not only a new trailer for the final season, but also a premiere date. Get ready to return to the Viking Age with all your favorite Viking warriors, including Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) as King of Kattegat.
‘Vikings’ season 6 gets a premiere date
Bjorn is channeling his father in the explosive new trailer. Fans can expect to see the final season of Vikings on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 9 p.m. E.S.T. The premiere will last two hours and will be accompanied by eight additional episodes, which will air on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. E.S.T. There will also be an additional 10 episodes to follow later on which will of course feel like an entirely new season. The second half will air in 2020.
Michael Hirst, the series creator, released a statement about the final season. “I always knew how Vikings would end and, after 89 episodes, I truly believe the saga of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons has been told and we are leaving our beloved fans with the proper and definitive ending they so deserve,” Michael Hirst said. “Although it is bittersweet, there are still 20 episodes left and the most ambitious and intensely emotional episodes are still to come.”
Season 6 has a new trailer
Bjorn is becoming more and more like his father, Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) in the brand-new trailer. He’s now King of Kattegat and his reputation is growing as a powerful ruler and heir to his father’s legacy. “People of Kattegat, I am but your humble servant,” Bjorn tells his people. Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) is by his side in the trailer. He wants to search for Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård), who has seemingly disappeared.
Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) is also seen, choosing to live a life away from the battles she was once known to revel in. “I have seen enough of war. I have seen enough of death,” Lagertha says. She is clearly trying to enjoy her time in quiet seclusion and out of danger, at least for now.
Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) heads to Russia to seek refuge from his brothers. It looks like he will be fighting against them once again. “It seems the gods brought us together again my brother,” Ivar says to Bjorn. “They must enjoy seeing us fight.”
What will season 6 of ‘Vikings’ be about?
The final season of Vikings will hopefully be everything fans need it to be. Bjorn is now the leader and rightful ruler of Kattegat. People will compare him to his father, which is to be expected. They are both great men respected by all. Bjorn is wise, just like Ragnar was known to be.
Ivar will travel via the famous Silk Road ending up in Russia. He will meet his match in Prince Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky), someone who may even be able to rival Ivar with his ruthlessness.
Lagertha is trying to live a quiet life of seclusion on her very own farm, something she used to enjoy with Ragnar. The peace can’t last forever though. Ubbe searches for Floki and Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) will seek revenge on Ivar.
Fans of Vikings can’t wait for the first half of the final season to premiere. We don’t have much longer to wait to see how it will all end.
