When Does ‘WandaVision’ Take Place? Here’s What We Know About Marvel’s Disney+ Series
The advertisement during the Super Bowl may have only been a few seconds long, but we have so many questions. With a few Marvel television shows coming to Disney’s streaming platform, Disney+, fans are wondering what this original content could mean for characters from Avengers: Infinity War, like Wanda and Vision. Thankfully, with a few fan theories, we might know more about WandaVision.
The Super Bowl gave Marvel fans a sneak peek into upcoming shows on Disney+
The universe is officially expanding for Marvel fans. The 2020 Super Bowl bought a new advertisement, detailing the upcoming original series to premiere on Disney+. A few of those take place in the Marvel Universe, including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki. One of the next original shows to premiere on this streaming platform is WandaVision, starring Paul Bettany as Vision and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch.
“I so admire Kevin Feige and the courage that he has. The decision that he’s made with this show is so bonkers, quite frankly, and really risky and really new and unlike anything, [Marvel Studios has] ever done. It has been — I’m going to speak for [Elizabeth Olsen,]” Paul Bettany said during an interview with Collider.
“I guess she wouldn’t mind — is it’s been one of the highlights of my career, making this show,” he continued. “I don’t know how it’s gonna come out but it’s been so much fun to make. The writing is just extraordinary. I mean, Jac Schaeffer is the head writer on [WandaVision] and she’s just been brilliant. It’s the happiest set I’ve ever been on.”
One of the upcoming original shows coming to Disney+ is ‘WandaVision’
Although there’s no official premiere date for some of these shows, the trailer left fans with plenty of questions, wondering when, exactly, WandaVision takes place. How can these two be together if Thanos kind of destroyed Vision during Avengers: Infinity War? Some Twitter users think they found the answer, and it starts with Avengers: Endgame.
The Nerdist reports that thanks to Avengers: Endgame, time travel is no longer impossible for these superheroes. That means that Wanda is free to go back and potentially save Vision or rebuild him with the help of Dr. Bruce Banner.
Then, they’ll be free to steal as many moments as they want together. Which, judging from the trailer, they do. Fans saw Wanda and Vision hanging out in their own home. At one point, the commercial looks like a sitcom from the 1950s.
What year does ‘WandaVision’ take place during?
In another clip, Wanda is dressed in a costume, sporting all red and devil horns. One Twitter user reports that they’ll make references to popular sitcoms of each decade, from I Love Lucy to The Brady Bunch to Roseanne. So, this series presumably takes place during a few different decades.
“Wanda setting up the future of the MCU in WandaVision and continuing right away with [this] multiverse of madness,” another Twitter user said. Fans will have to wait until this series’ premiere to learn more about Wanda and Vision.
Until then, subscribers can watch original television shows, like The Mandalorian and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+. To learn more about Disney’s streaming platform, visit their website.
