Is ‘WandaVision’ a Movie? Here’s What We Know About This Disney+ Original

Avengers: Endgame might’ve meant the end of an era for the MCU. However, there are still a few stories to tell, especially those of characters Wanda Maximoff (also known as Scarlet Witch) and her partner, Vision.

Thanks to Disney+, fans are about to learn more about their new lives together, which includes dropping into moments from television history. Here’s what we know about the Disney original, WandaVision.

‘WandaVision’ comes to Disney+ during January 2021

There were several casualties at the hands of Thanos. With the mind stone built into Vision, it was only a matter of time before Thanos came for him.

Now, however, Wanda and Vision have a second chance at a lie together. That’s thanks to the Disney+ original, titled WandaVision, which features these MCU characters.

Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the original series will follow this “unusual couple” as they try to start a life together. That leads them to explore a few different decades through the lens of iconic sitcoms like I Love Lucy, The Brady Bunch, and Full House.

‘WandaVision’ features a new story of these MCU characters

This series stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as Vision, the same actors who appeared in Marvel blockbusters like Avengers: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.

Not much is known about the story of this series, one of the biggest questions being how does Vision return after being crushed at the hands of Thanos. Fans will presumably wait to learn more about these characters.

“I think it’s going to make you think about the MCU in a whole brand new way but I do think that it’s absolutely a part of that universe,” Bettany said during an interview with Collider of the upcoming series.

“As each episode unfolds, the audience will be able to peel back layer upon layer until this rather beautiful puzzle box written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman and shot by [cinematographer] Jess Hall will be revealed to everybody and it will make sense,” he continued. “All of the bonkers stuff will be about something.”

‘WandaVision’ is a Disney+ original series

This upcoming Marvel original is a series, meaning that new episodes will premiere on a weekly basis. It does, however, join Marvel blockbusters already on Disney+, including Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: The First Avenger.

WandaVision is a Disney+ exclusive, meaning it will not appear on any other streaming platform nor on Disney’s television networks like Disney Channel and Disney XD. It will be available to all subscribers, starting on Jan. 15, 2021.

Wanda and Vision’s upcoming adventure aside, there are a few other Marvel-related series’ coming to Disney’s subscription service. That includes The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which premieres during March 2021, and Loki.
