Wendy Williams Finally Set the Record Straight About Her Divorce From Kevin Hunter
Wendy Williams has been all over the news lately as she deals with her high-profile divorce from longtime husband Kevin Hunter. And as with any divorce, plenty of rumors about what really happened in the relationship always follow. There have been stories about Williams’ current relationship with Hunter, plus what she’s doing with her show, and other things about the talk show host’s life. But Williams finally set the record straight about where things are with her relationship at the moment.
Williams and Hunter announced their divorce in April
Williams, a popular daytime talk show host and comedian, had been with Hunter for 25 years (the two were married or 21 years) when she filed for divorce from him this past April. For years, Hunter has been Williams’ manager and has also produced her show. The couple also share a teenage son together. Around the same time that Williams announced her divorce, she came clean to her fans that she had been living in a sober house after struggling with cocaine use; there was no word of the couple divorcing at the time, but it’s clear things weren’t going well at home.
Hunter reportedly had a child with another woman
Just before Williams filed for divorce, reports surfaced that Hunter had welcomed a child with his longtime mistress, Sharina Hudson. Williams was silent about the matter at first, but she eventually confirmed the rumors when the press caught up with her a little while after the news broke. “Look, my husband had a full baby with a woman he was involved with for 15 years,” Williams said. “Where I was cooped up only to be a show pony.” Williams was reportedly at the sober house while her husband was welcoming the new baby with Hudson.
Williams says the two do not have a working relationship
Ever since the news about the love child and the divorce broke, Williams has been at the center of a lot of rumors, most of which have to do with her current relationship with Hunter. She sat down with Rosanna Scotto and Lori Stokes of Good Day New York on August 6 to discuss everything that had been said about her in the media. She made it clear that she and Hunter are getting a divorce and that he is no longer her manager or working on her show. Williams said “the only business” she and Hunter are currently doing “is getting a divorce finalized.” She also said they don’t have any kind of working relationship right now. Once the divorce is finalized, they will try to repair their friendship. “Kevin and I will always be friends,” she added.
She noted the hardest part of putting herself out there is getting comfortable with someone again
Since announcing the divorce, Williams has been trying to live her best life, but she said learning a new normal isn’t always easy. “When do you take your wig off?” she asked rhetorically, referring to meeting new people. However, she seems much better off living a life where she can focus on herself and her son rather than worrying about what her husband is doing behind her back.
