The series finale of The Good Place does not air until Jan. 30, 2020. The finale airs at 8:30 p.m. on NBC and will be 90 minutes long. After the finale, the cast of The Good Place will appear on a post-show hosted by Seth Meyers.
D’Arcy Carden told fans what she thought of ‘The Good Place’ finale
D’Arcy Carden and Manny Jacinto recently spoke at a panel at Vulture Festival 2019. The panel was moderated by their co-star, Marc Evan Jackson. During the panel, Jackson allowed fans in the audience to participate in a Q&A. One fan asked Carden and Jacinto what part from filming the show would be their personal Good Place. Carden answered she “would gladly spend ‘the rest of eternity’ in the series finale.”
Aside from that small comment, Jacinto, Carden, and Jackson did not give much about the finale away. At the end of the panel, Jacinto gave the audience a small hint about how the show ends.
“Things transpire. Others don’t. End of The Good Place,” he said.
The cast of ‘The Good Place’ are happy with the show’s finale
While not much is known about The Good Place finale, the cast of the show have all made the point that they are happy with the way the show ends. While appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Ted Danson discussed the show’s ending with Meyers.
“Are you confident with how it ended?” Meyers asked.
“Very, very,” Danson said.
William Jackson Harper shared his thoughts on The Good Place finale with EW.
“It’s completion of our journeys in a way that I find satisfying, hopeful, and goes beyond our conventional understanding of storytelling,” he said.
Kristen Bell added, “You will finally see what we owe to each other.”
Fans of ‘The Good Place’ have theories about the ending
While the cast of The Good Place have given little away about the show’s ending, it’s clear the actors are happy with the finale. This reassurance has not stopped fans of The Good Place from speculating about the show’s ending. After all, the last episode just ended with a huge cliffhanger. With the experiment to save humanity over, it seems the last half of season 4 can truly go anywhere.
One fan on Reddit speculated Bad Janet will play a role in saving humanity.
“Bad Janet reads the manifesto at some point, and sees how humans can improve, which changes her POV on human improvement,” the Reddit user wrote. “From a meta level, I don’t think they would show the release of Bad Janet and entrust her with the manifesto if it wasn’t going to lead to anything.”
In another Reddit thread, fans of The Good Place speculated the experiment was never about the new residents. Instead, Judge Gen was testing the four original humans.
“What I realized today is that not only have the Soul Squad been given the tests Gen gave them… but this has caused them to develop into the human beings they were supposed to be in the original test,” wrote a Reddit user.
