Celebrities often have to worry about their personal safety and privacy. Even in their own home. While trying to film a new YouTube video, makeup artist and social media influencer James Charles had to deal with some pretty disturbing behavior outside his home.

He took to Twitter and Snapchat to beg fans to stop showing up outside his private residence. He still seemed pretty shook after the initial post. Fans show up (uninvited) and this is an issue he’s dealt with for some time. And Charles wanted to address it once and for all.

He made this plea on Sunday

Apparently, Charles was having difficulty filming as it appears that fans would not leave him alone at his own home. He tweeted, “please stop showing up at my house. i will not hug you, i will not take a photo with you, and i absolutely will not sign your palette. it is extremely disrespectful & makes me feel very unsafe in my own home. respect people’s privacy, it’s really not that hard.”

Most fans responded quickly in agreement. “Who does this? Leave him alone, its his PRIVATE home!” one fan tweeted.  Although one Twitter follower pointed out, “Don’t put your whole life on Youtube then, I personally don’t know who you are but just remember without your fans you’d be a nobody.”

But that comment was quickly slammed. “Just because he shows some parts of his life on youtube doesn’t mean that fans should go to his house and visit him. He doesnt know us, like at all. He knows we are fans, but it not like he knows our family, our names, what kind of car we drive, and what state we live in…”

Charles also took to Snapchat too

He said he’s had an issue with fans “popping in” to his private residence so he felt the need to reiterate his wishes on Snapchat. The video is also posted on YouTube as well. “When you talk about an issue it can become an even bigger issue,” he says. “But this is getting very very out of hand, and I need to address it right now.”

He says to fans do not come by his house by any means. Too many people found out where he and his younger brother reside. “Do not come here, because you are not invited,” he asserts. “If you are ringing my doorbell eight times every three minutes, I will call the police because that is literally harassment.”

Charles also reminds fans that not only is this his home, it is also his place of work. And that strangers showing up uninvited makes him feel not only very uncomfortable but also unsafe. Plus his neighbors are becoming annoyed as well. He adds that in some cases his fans are so young, their parents condone this behavior by driving them to his house. But, he reminds fans he still loves them. And says if he sees fans in public, he’d love to give out hugs and selfies. Just not at his private home.
