What Do Chris Pratt and Arnold Schwarzenegger Have in Common?
Not long ago, we wrote about what Chris Pratt did to win over his future father-in-law, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Before proposing marriage to Katherine Schwarzenegger, Pratt used his ethical value system to meet with the family before going forward.
Arnold (and Maria Shriver) clearly found this appealing. At first, Arnold didn’t like the idea of his daughter dating and possibly marrying an actor. Pratt isn’t the usual kind of Hollywood superstar, though.
We can only imagine the conversations Pratt has had with his father-in-law to be. What do they really have in common that could keep their family relationship strong for years to come?
Arnold may persuade Chris Pratt not to have a secret wedding
It’s obvious Pratt and Schwarzenegger are two iconic actors as a commonality. They’re also very different in how they’ve lived their lives. Pratt would prefer more privacy (outside of social media postings), just like the private wedding he once had to Anna Faris.
With Schwarzenegger, it’s been all about ostentation and always being in the public eye, even with marriage. Arnold was used to this anyway since he was a bodybuilder who showcased his pecs to willing audiences. When he married Maria Shriver in 1986, it was a huge public event full of pageantry.
So will Arnold convince Pratt to have a more open wedding? As we’ve seen, Pratt is always willing to compromise. Arnold’s been the same way many times in his private life.
Both star in action films
According to media reports last year from Vanity Fair, Pratt and Schwarzenegger had many spirited discussions when the family first got together for a double date. This is always a good sign since you don’t want stony silence from Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Undoubtedly one of the things they talked about is their commonality in being wealthy action stars. Schwarzenegger made this a cottage industry during his heyday, and he’s not done yet. Pratt mostly stars in action films, even if it’s sometimes doing voice work, like in The Lego Movie franchise.
We can only imagine the stories they had to share about situations on the film sets of their action flicks. These stories are probably enough to keep those lively discussions going around next Thanksgiving’s dinner table.
Both are into working out
One thing Pratt has made a priority is to work out and keep himself looking ripped for his action roles. Most specifically, he worked out for Guardians of the Galaxy, something Muscle and Fitness profiled a while back.
In fact, the site even gave details about what Pratt’s weight training involved. Here alone we see something he and Arnold can relate to and talk about ad infinitum.
It’s possible Schwarzenegger was instantly sold the minute he heard about Pratt being devoted to bodybuilding. Now we have to wonder if the paparazzi will show us a pic of them working out in a gym together after the marriage to Katherine takes place. Or, Schwarzenegger might convince Pratt to be involved in his new commercial nutrition products enterprise, Ladder.
They both aren’t committed to one political party
Back in 2017, Pratt told People.com he wanted to bridge the wide political divide going on in our country. Obviously, this is easier said than done, yet the sentiment sort of reflects on Arnold’s politics.
Arnold has long been a Republican, but really the old-school variety not seen much anymore. He’s also known for being a political moderate and frequently crossing the aisle on some issues. After all, Maria Shriver was an off-branch of a prominent Democratic family (the Kennedys).
Both Pratt and Schwarzenegger have this going for them in seeing eye to eye. Overall, they have a lot more in common than they probably initially realized.
For Thanksgiving each year, it has us picturing Pratt talking more at length with his father-in-law than his own wife.
