What Is Meghan Markle Really Like Behind Closed Doors?

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement a few years ago, the world felt a wave of excitement. There is no doubt that becoming engaged and planning a wedding to Prince Harry was one of the most incredible times in Markle‘s life.

However, shortly before the big day, the drama began when Markle’s estranged half-siblings, Samantha and Thomas, Jr., began portraying her in a negative way to the news media and didn’t hide their anger over not being invited to the wedding. Her father even went so far as to write a letter to Prince Harry advising him not to marry Markle.

Things took a turn for the worse when a few days before the nuptials, Meghan’s father, Thomas Sr., decided not to fly to London to walk his daughter down the aisle due to supposed health issues. It seems that Markle has been bombarded with quite a lot of negative press lately, leading some people to speculate that she really is a difficult person. So, what is Markle really like behind closed doors?

The media is bullying Meghan Markle

Log onto the internet lately, and it seems that Markle is the subject of the majority of headline news. According to HuffPost, she received quite a bit of backlash when she and Prince Harry used a private jet four times in just over a week, despite the fact that they are adamant about environmental issues. The bullying caused several high-profile celebrity friends, including Elton John and Ellen DeGeneres, to speak out and jump to the defense of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Spotlight on: Smart Works We are proud to be supporting a very special initiative this autumn for @SmartWorksCharity! After quiet visits to Smartworks over the last year, The Duchess was moved by the impactful work being done by this non profit organisation that helps women into the workforce, equipping them with both the skills and clothes they need to feel job-ready. Throughout her visits she noticed that while the donations were plentiful, they were also notably a combination of mismatched items and colours which weren’t always the right stylistic choices or sizes that didn’t necessarily “suit” the job at hand: to make a woman feel confident and inspired as she walked into her job interview. As a result, launching this autumn, The Duchess will be supporting a collective to help equip the women of Smart Works with the key workwear essentials they need as they enter into the workplace. This initiative is supported by four generous brands who share the vision to empower the women of Smart Works to look and feel as they bravely venture in to what can often be a daunting environment for those who have been out of the job market. The brands have come together to work towards this united force for good, “[reframing] the idea of charity as community,” as The Duchess writes in a piece for this month’s British Vogue. They will follow the 1:1 model where an item from the collection purchased is an item shared with a woman of Smart Works because “not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story; it reminds us we are in it together.” For more information on how you can be part of another woman’s success story visit @smartworkscharity. Special thanks to: @JohnLewisandPartners, @MarksandSpencer, @MishaNonoo, @InsideJigsaw for supporting this very special organisation. Since marrying into the royal family, it would appear that Markle is dealing with rumor after rumor. International Business Times reports that she made Kate Middleton cry at a dress fitting for Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid outfit. Soon after the royal wedding, rumors began swirling that she and Middleton couldn’t get along at all and that it was because of their supposed rift that Prince Harry and Markle decided to move away from Kensington Palace to their new home in Windsor, although that was proven to be false. It wasn’t long before reports began surfacing that Meghan was causing tension between Prince Harry and his older brother, Prince William, although that rumor was never confirmed either.

The royal family warmly welcomed Meghan Markle

When Markle married into the royal family, she was warmly welcomed by everyone from Queen Elizabeth to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. The queen, in particular, has taken a special liking to the new duchess, and their relationship has grown pretty close over Markle’s time as a royal. In fact, Express reports that the two are extremely tight and that her majesty is thrilled with her new granddaughter-in-law. It is said that she gets along beautifully with Prince Charles, and Camilla Parker-Bowles expressed her delight when it was announced that Markle and Prince Harry were going to be married.

Spotlight on: Luminary Bakery Today we shine a spotlight on @LuminaryBakery and the amazing women of this inspiring and sustainable grassroots organisation. • “What they’ve created at Luminary Bakery is exceptional – it’s a space for baking, healing and rebuilding. When I visited earlier this year I was struck by how the baking, itself, is a means of therapy for these women – which in many ways makes complete sense – feeling they had no control over their lives based on their previous (and often harrowing) circumstances, they found comfort in the measured nature of baking. Mixing equal parts of one ingredient and another could yield the perfect dessert, but the act of doing so provided personal balance. So while the baked goods are absolutely delicious, it’s the story of how the program at Luminary reshapes lives through baking that is the actual icing on the cake.” – The Duchess of Sussex Earlier this year, The Duchess of Sussex visited Luminary Bakery and had the opportunity to break bread with the women – literally and figuratively – whilst listening to their stories. They shared how they’ve rebuilt their lives following their challenging life experiences, and the significant role that Luminary Bakery has played in helping with their personal restoration. The Duchess of Sussex chose to include this small bakery tucked away in East London for the September issue of @BritishVogue, which she guest edited. This bakery has been making a substantial difference to the lives of women in the local area over the last five years and opening its arms to vulnerable women whilst providing job skills, career support, mentoring and coaching. The combination of these like minded women supporting each other, both on the staff side and from the students, is proving to be the perfect recipe in creating this amazing, positive environment. If you find yourself in East London, please stop by and support the women of Luminary Bakery and the impactful work they’re doing. Photo © @LuminaryBakery

With the negative press that seems to surround Meghan lately, we have to wonder what she is like behind closed doors. According to British actress Jameela Jamil, who worked with Markle when she was a guest editor for Vogue, the duchess is just great. She described Markle as being a “warm and kind” person, someone who she truly enjoyed working with and was able to talk to and laugh with the entire time. Other people who know Markle have nothing but positive things to say. Her friends, such as Serena Williams and George Clooney, always support her, which doesn’t fit with the reports of the news media. Seems like Markle is really the amazing person that we knew she was all along.
