What is Monica Lewinsky Doing Now?

We all remember Monica Lewinsky from her scandal with former President Bill Clinton in the ’90s. Though we all know the headlines of the story and remember Clinton’s statements, we never got to know what really happened between the former Commander in Chief and Lewinsky.

Yesterday, FX announced that season three of the Emmy-winning series American Crime Story, would be titled Impeachment and focus on the scandal. It was also announced that Lewinsky would be helping produce the show.

“I told her, ‘Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do,'” Ryan Murphy, the creator of the series, told The Hollywood Reporter last year of working with Lewinsky. “If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer and you should make all the g****n money.'”

This season will be coming off the wild success of the first two.

“FX’s American Crime Story franchise has become a cultural touchstone, providing greater context for stories that deserve greater understanding like the O.J. Simpson trial and saga, and Andrew Cunanan’s tragic crime spree which concluded with the assassination of Gianni Versace,” FX CEO John Landgraf said in a press release. “This franchise re-examines some of the most complicated, polarizing stories in recent history in a way that is relevant, nuanced and entertaining. Impeachment: American Crime Story will likewise explore the overlooked dimensions of the women who found themselves caught up in the scandal and political war that cast a long shadow over the Clinton presidency.”

Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk, Larry Karaszewski, Scott Alexander, Alexis Martin Woodall, and Sarah Paulson will executive produce the show. Henrietta Conrad and Jemima Khan will also produce the show with Lewinsky.

It will star Paulson, Beanie Feldstein, and Annaleigh Ashford.

Production is scheduled to begin in February of 2020 and the series will premiere on Sunday, Sept. 27 of next year at 10 p.m. ET on FX.

What has Lewinsky been up to?

Since the scandal, Lewinsky has made a few appearances and done a few interviews. In 1999, she started a handbag line and in 2000, she appeared in commercials for Jenny Craig.

In ’99, she also worked with Andrew Morton to publish Monica’s Story, which she reportedly earned a $500,000 advance for.

Later, she began to lead a more private life and went back to school. In 2006, she graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a Masters of Science.

In June 2015, she became the strategic advisor for the anti-bullying organization Bystander Revolution, which she was spurred to do after hearing about the death of Tyler Clementi, who jumped off of a bridge after his college roommate allegedly released a video of him engaging in sexual acts with a man.

“I would never be so presumptuous as to equate my own story with Tyler Clementi’s,” she wrote in an essay for Vanity Fair. “After all, my public humiliation had been the result of my involvement with a world-renowned public figure—that is, a consequence of my own poor choices,” she wrote. “I wished I had been able to say to him that I knew a little of how it might have felt for him to be exposed before the world. And, as hard as it is to imagine surviving it, it is possible.”

How much is Lewinsky worth?

Monica Lewinsky is estimated to be worth $1.5 million.
