What Is Sarah Drew (April Kepner) Up To Since Leaving ‘Grey’s Anatomy’?

Although we are happy that they did not kill off April Kepner in her final episode of Grey’s Anatomy, we still wish she didn’t leave the show.

Sarah Drew’s last time on set was in season 14 when she went from wedding planner to bride in the space of 40 minutes. What has Drew been up to since leaving Grey’s Anatomy in 2018? Let’s take a look.

Sarah Drew is busy making Hallmark holiday movies

T.V. Christmas movies do not have an excellent reputation for being the best. However, we know Drew has valuable acting skills to bring to the table. We hope these two aren’t quite as cheesy as the rest in the genre.

Drew stars with Ryan McPartlin from L.A.’s Finest in Twinkle All The Way this holiday season. The movie is your classic romantic fall-in-love while surrounded by Christmas magic kind of T.V. movie you want to snuggle up to in the cold winter months.

Drew appropriately plays the wedding planner, Cadence Clark. McPartlin plays Henry Harrison, who is a co-owner of a Christmas decoration and house-lighting company. The two are tasked with joining forces to help each other with their two challenging projects. Both are single parents of young girls, and along the way, they fall in love.

In 2018, Drew starred in another Hallmark holiday movie, Christmas Pen Pals. Last year’s Christmas movie received excellent reviews. One critic on Rotten Tomatoes said, “I can say with certainty that Christmas Pen Pals is at least a few steps above every other film I’ve seen in the genre.”

Drew completed her first screenplay

In what little free time drew has, when she’s not taking care of her two children or acting, she loves to write. She sought advice from the author of “Eat, Pray, Love,” Elizabeth Gilbert, and wrote a screenplay just for fun.

Drew took to Instagram to celebrate the completion of her first rough draft. She explained that she wrote it, “Only for the pure joy of the creative experience. I just finished the first draft of my first screenplay, and it’s been an absolute joy for my soul from start to finish. Who knows if anything will come of it, but I made something, and I loved every second.”

We have no idea what it is about, but we hope something comes of it, too.

Drew is starring in plays and enjoying her weekly hip hop class

As if she wasn’t already busy enough, Drew is starring in a play called Pressure, which is directed by Martin Jarvis. The play premiered earlier this month at L.A. Theater Works.

Drew also loves to dance. She has been dancing with her girlfriends weekly for over a year now and absolutely loves it.

She shared on Instagram, “I invited a bunch of my girlfriends to try it out, and it’s become our weekly happy place. The gals in this video are my weekly dance crew. (@anniefunke we missed you Saturday!) We dance. We lunch. We laugh. We cry. We have an epic text chain. It’s so so good.”

Although we are missing April Kepner on Grey’s Anatomy, it looks like Drew is doing just fine without her.
