What Is The Sassiest Thing Queen Elizabeth II Has Ever Said?

With her wise age and long reign, Queen Elizabeth II is a formidable character who doesn’t mince words or suffer fools easily. The longest-reigning British monarch is still sitting happily on her throne with no plans to pass the throne on to her son, Prince Charles, anytime soon. Though her husband, Prince Philip, has officially retired from his royal duties, the queen is still pushing forward and watching over her family with an iron fist.

Not only does she comment on her grandsons and their wives attire, PDA and everything in between, Queen Elizabeth is also known for her sassy quips directed at her staff, family members, dignitaries and everyone in between. So what is the sassiest thing she’s ever said?

On her colorful wardrobe

We all know the queen lives for a dazzling pastel number with a matching handbag and hat. At Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May 2018 wedding, she sported a vibrant lime green outfit that truly stunned the press. The queen might be old-fashioned — demanding sweaters, pantyhose, and neutral colored nails, but she truly shows her style when it comes to the colors in her wardrobe. When asked about her color preferences she cleverly responded, “If I wore beige, nobody would know who I am.”

Unbothered and unphased

Though the royal family is currently enjoying an era of prosperity and mega-popularity, things haven’t always been so glorious for the Windsors. Scandals, divorces, and a slew of other things have made them targets of hate in the past, but these days, with the popularity of Prince William, Duchess Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the little royals, things are looking up. Still, Queen Elizabeth has always been unphased by the hate.

When protestors in New Zealand threw eggs at her during her visit, she quipped, “I myself prefer my New Zealand eggs for breakfast.”

Laughing at her great-grandchildren

It’s no secret that Queen Elizabeth adores her great-grandchildren. She finds a ton of joy in Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and she was over the moon when Duchess Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced they were expecting. Still, like everyone else, she also wants to make sure the birth of the baby royals don’t interfere with her holiday plans. Back in 2012 while the world awaited the birth of Prince George who was more than a few days overdue, the queen remarked, “I hope it arrives soon because I’m going on holiday.”

The sassiest thing Queen Elizabeth has ever said

And yet, the sassiest thing to ever come from the queen was when she found a slug in her dinner. The royal staff served her a large salad which just happened to contain a massive dead slug. Of course, the queen quickly let her staff know about the slug in the classiest and sassiest way possible. She tore a sheet from a comments book –which she usually reserves for compliments, placed the slug on top and wrote, “I found this in the salad – could you eat it?” What a legend.

Hopefully, the royal kitchen staff won’t make that dreadful mistake again.
