While BTS fans wait for the group’s elusive collaboration with Khalid to drop, ARMY set their sights on a new collaboration. Lizzo told a fan on Twitter she is open to a collaboration with BTS, and now it’s all fans want. Both Lizzo and BTS have similar messages in their music, and the artists will perform at the KIIS-FM Jingle Ball concert in December.
Lizzo said she was open to a collaboration
Lizzo actually brought up a collaboration with BTS before the interaction on Twitter. After BTS performed on Saturday Night Live, a video of their performance was synced with Lizzo’s “Juice.” The video went viral on social media and made fans want a collaboration.
Later in Aug. 2019, Lizzo listened to BTS for the first time in a video for CBC Music. In the video, Lizzo expressed how much she enjoyed BTS’s “Boy With Luv.” She also brought up a collaboration.
“If I could collaborate with BTS, I mean that sounds fun,” Lizzo said in the video.
On Oct. 7, a fan tweeted at Lizzo, “lizzo collab bts???? #StreamTruthHurts.” Lizzo then shared the tweet and said, “Yes please.” After this interaction, more fans asked for the collaboration on Twitter.
“please i am willing to pay my everything because you two are the only people who helped me love anf accept myself,” wrote a Twitter user.
“Two artists promoting self love & acceptance. Yes I’m all for a @BTS_twt x @lizzo collab…,” wrote another.
BTS and Lizzo’s music contains similar messages
Both Lizzo and BTS share the message of loving yourself in their music. Before Map of the Soul: Persona, BTS released three albums as part of a Love Yourself series. In the series, BTS focused on the concept of self-love.
With their EP Love Yourself: Her, BTS explored the different types of love. Their next album Love Yourself: Tear explained the dark sides of love. The series concluded with Love Yourself: Answer, an album focused on self-love after the journey from the previous two albums.
Lizzo shares empowering messages about self-love and self-care in her music. Her album Cuz I Love You earned critical acclaim. She also frequently speaks out about how difficult it can be to love yourself and motivates her fans.
“I’m still accepting myself every day; I’m still working on it. I understand how difficult it is to ‘just love yourself’ in a society in which the media quite literally tells us that we don’t have enough money to love ourselves,” Lizzo wrote in a piece for NBC.
In the piece, Lizzo wrote about the process of self-care and changing one’s outlook on self-love.
“Self-care is really rooted in self-preservation, just like self-love is rooted in honesty. We have to start being more honest with what we need, and what we deserve, and start serving that to ourselves,” she wrote.
The artists will perform at Jingle Ball in December
BTS and Lizzo will perform at the KIIS-FM Jingle Ball on Dec. 6. The KIIS-FM Jingle Ball takes place in Los Angeles. Katy Perry, Billie Eilish, Sam Smith, Camila Cabello, Halsey, French Montana, and Normani will also perform. Some fans hope Lizzo and BTS will meet at the concert.
“The fact that bts and lizzo are both performing for jingle ball Like the chance of them meeting and discussing for a collab in the future,” a fan wrote on Twitter.
“If Lizzo and BTS don’t meet at Jingle Ball and immediately become best friends NO immediately become FAMILY what’s the point of anything,” one fan tweeted.
