What Message Did Andy Cohen Have for Lisa Vanderpump from ‘RHOBH?’

Now that speculation is over whether Lisa Vanderpump will return to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, producer Andy Cohen addresses the rumors swirling around her departure.

During Andy Cohen Live, Cohen shared how he felt about Vanderpump missing the reunion. “I wish she had been there,” Cohen remarked. He also referred to Vanderpump’s criticism of former cast member Adrienne Maloof. Maloof skipped the season three reunion and Vanderpump thought she should have attended.

Cohen also addressed the future of the show and his photo with Kathy Hilton. Plus he had a message for Vanderpump too.

You don’t just ‘replace’ Vanderpump

Rumors about Hilton “replacing” Vanderpump brought Cohen to a juncture where he felt the need to address the word “replace.” He first said when Bravo considered doing a Beverly Hills spinoff it was rooted in having Vanderpump in the cast.  “It has been well documented that when we were developing The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, I was not totally sold on doing the show.”

He added, “I was like, ‘Wait, we have Orange County, why would we do Beverly Hills?’ When I saw Lisa Vanderpump on that casting tape, man, she was the one who really sold me on doing the show. I just wanted to see more of Lisa and so did all of you. She is iconic and I am so glad that we will continue to see more of Lisa in all of her glory on Vanderpump Rules. I guess that’s what mitigates the loss of her from Beverly Hills.”

Cohen emphasized that Vanderpump’s departure does not mean she will be replaced. “As for Lisa leaving the show, no one will ever replace her,” he asserted. “I’ve got to tell you. And no one can replace her.

The photo with Hilton doesn’t mean she’s been cast either

When Bruce Bozzi, owner of The Palm posted a picture of Hilton and Cohen to his Instagram account. He teased, “Sign on the dotted line… a true diamond 💎 in Beverly Hills.. @kathyhilton! #RHOBH! @bravoandy! GoodNight LA 6/7/19.”

While the picture and caption looked like the two were having a power dinner, Cohen set the record straight. He actually ran into Hilton at Mr. Chow and the two just took an impromptu picture. “Kathy was like, ‘Oh, we’ve got to take a pic,” Cohen explains. “It’s hilarious that we are running into each other.’ So Bruce takes a picture of us and I get in the car, I look on Instagram and there’s Bruce’s post that says, ‘Sign on the dotted line. You are a true diamond.’ I go, ‘Bruce, do you realize what you are going to do right now in Housewives nation?’”

Cohen added, “I will say, I was amazed at how positive, overwhelmingly positive the response to this was. People were really into it.”

But he has this message for Vanderpump

Even though the season has been messy, Cohen wants Vanderpump to know the door is always open. Plus he’s happy to know he and fans will continue to see more Vanderpump on Vanderpump Rules.

Also, while the show will go on, he had this message for Vanderpump. “You know, Nene left Atlanta for a spell, Bethenny left New York,” Cohen pointed out. “People come and go, but the show remains.”

He adds, “You know what, the door will always be open to Lisa as it is when people leave the show.” The Real Housewives franchise isn’t the only series where cast members return. Just recently, Million Dollar Listing New York announced that fan favorite Luis D. Ortiz is returning after being away for years too. So never say never.
